Bite Me (A Poem)
I was going through some old files today and found this short poem (one of the few I've written) from a few years ago.
I had two thoughts. Firstly, I should write some more of this stuff (but not necessarily this stuff even though it's a good release) and secondly, I should share it here on HubPages.
So here it is! Enjoy.
Bite me!
Bite me!
‘Cause I offer free samples
I hope you’ll like me
I don’t scream out to you from the shelf
But I’m not invisible either
I might look a little rough around the edges
But touch me and you’ll discover I’m actually soft on the inside.
My essence is sweet, not too rich
I’ll always have a warm centre
Even though you keep me outside
(Hold me closer…I won’t bite.)
Warning: may contain nuts!!
Maybe you’ll spit me out
(Am I a little too crunchy? A little too round? Don’t like my brand?)
If you think I taste a little funny, it’s often intentional.
If I don’t sit well with you, that’s really unfortunate.
You’ve probably rushed through the experience and didn’t enjoy it.
Maybe you’re allergic to me or we just don’t share the same taste.
But that doesn’t mean there’s anything at all wrong with my ingredients.
Bite me!
‘Cause I offer free samples
But only one per customer
I hope you’ll like me
If you don’t… bite me!
