Bittersweet Poems: Saying Goodnight

Updated on March 3, 2014

I hate saying "good night"
Because "good night" means the end of another perfect day
The end of another magical moment with you
"Good night" means I have to let go of this dream
That may or may not ever come true

"Good night" means you return to your world
And I return to mine
But somehow the sum of both
Don't equal our magical time

I feel so incomplete
Every night I have to say "good night" to you
Because I would rather be in your arms
Making sweet dreams come true

So forgive me if I sound so sad
When the time comes for me to say "good night"
I'm just thinking in my head
That certain things in life ain't right

If I had it my way
Our nights together would be storming
And instead of saying "good night" to you
I'd be saying
Good morning

How sweet is that! It reminds me of the song 'I don't wanta miss a thing'. Lovely sentiments and portraying a sense of wanting to get the most out of time together, out of life together.

      More great poetry! Ann
