Bittersweet Poetry: Hoping for a Brighter Tomorrow

Updated on April 12, 2014

My heart is on fire
You were the spark that set it ablaze
Now I'm a natural disaster wreaking havoc on the world
Because I can't go back to ordinary mundane days

I can't bury my head in the sand
And ignore the brilliant colors all around
I can't tune out the beautiful music I hear
And live in a world without sound

I can't go back, I won't go back
I absolutely unequivocally refuse
You can't ask me to live only half a life
After showing me everything I never knew I had to lose

So if you want to walk away
I can't stop you
I'm not a jailor, my love is not a cage
If I can't be the next chapter of your story
Then I'll settle for being a page

I'll live in a world without you
And accept you as today's painful sorrow
Holding on to the beautiful memories we made yesterday
And hoping some how, some way
Life brings a brighter tomorrow

A lot of pain wrapped in love from this one PHILLYDREAMER; letting someone go from the motives of real love whilst simultaneously attempting to appeal to their better nature hurts like crazy. How we lose that simplicity, in the truest sense of the word, that was first discovered together,is the stuff of legends; finding it again could be even better.....hope may report for duty. Good to read from you again.

      All the Best;

      R.Q.

Love is so confusing and you describe the pain with such intensity. Very well done. Thank you for sharing. Jamie

Nice. I know that the path will eventually be cascaded with roses. Much love, Philly.
