Bless The Children

Updated on May 9, 2012

After reading a hub on child abuse. I was invited to write on it and came up with a longer version of my original poem. Here is my original comment and the poem.

Wow, this was so hard to read, the truth hurts so much sometimes, the loss of innocence and trust is horrifying at the very least. thanks for opening up this ugly can of worms. It always brings to my mind an IF,

If there was no hurt

If there was no pain

If only only the world would be soft

like the sound of falling rain.

Bless the children , oh Lord, Bless the children

Child abuse.. it is so wrong

a sad, sad tale, a forlorn song

who does hear the children's plea?

will any one... please... listen to me

to stop the madness of chid abuse

parents.... listen to reason

don't say there is no use.

this night mare must stop .

My Lord... hear our plea's

Bless the children, My Lord

and take care of their needs.

The loss of innocence is the worst

let's put all of the children first

Bless the Children, Lord Bless the Children.

Michael this is so truly poignant. Being a mother I find it quite difficult to read anything on this topic. Children are our blessings and we must take the best possible care of them. Your poem carries a great message.

This is always in my prayer. I apologize to God for such sin we commit against the child.

Your poem reminds us of the unpleasantness of human kind.

I was unsure of what I would see here, but I am glad that I stopped in to read. The abuse of children is one that I sometimes cannot tolerate to look at in any news form. However, your poem is so well versed and does speak out against the evil in a natural way.

It's sad, but true poem. I find it so hard to hear the stories and can't imagine about the pain and the mental suffering. But I can only do is pray and ask God to change the people who ill treat children. Children are a blessing from God. God bless you for sharing this :)

A great job, Michael! Beautifully written. Child Abuse is the darkest stain on humankind. Children are our greatest gift. It's our responsibility to protect them. And what's most disturbing is that in many countries and societies, it easily escapes notice and attention! Many are so hesitant to face the truth and would rather shroud it forever than do something about it.

A difficult subject to approach, but you handled it beautifully.

Child abuse goes against nature, our natural instincts are to protect our young.

Michael, thank you for this heartfelt insightful poem! The scariest thing that in most of the cases it is not seen to the outside world, kids have no power, have no knowledge of how to stand up to it...

This poem is like a prayer that we need to say over and over. This is a horrible sadness and one of the ways to try and stop it is prayer and the other education. You've hit them both in this poem.

      Voted up, awesome, and useful.
