Blogging for Your Income
Blogging for income can come in one of two ways: by creating your own blog or by writing blog posts for someone else. Either way, it takes work. There are no get-rich-quick schemes that will automatically make huge profits for you. However, there are several things you can do in order to start making a good income right now including:
Creating A Following
Being a writer includes marketing and selling yourself and what you do. In order to impact your readers and bring in money, you need a good following. You can do this in a number of ways such as:
-
Email lists (where you send weekly emails to your followers)
-
Social Media accounts linked to your website (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Linkedin)
-
Giving away freebies such as ebooks
-
Interacting positively with your audience
-
Inviting other writers or people interested in your topic to follow you
Guest Posting
There is sufficient money in guest posting for other sites. First, do a Google search for blogs that pay for guest posting. Narrow down that list by concentrating on blogs that you are knowledgeable in. Once you have chosen several blogs, then next step is to look at their submission guidelines. These guidelines will talk about format, style and what they expect from guest posts. When you have decided you are ready to try your hand at your first guest post, come up with an article idea. Then send a letter (we call this a query letter) to the blog and pitch your idea. You are now on your way to guest posting for money. Remember though, rejections are not the end of the world. Always try again. A 'no' answer is one step closer to getting a 'yes.'
Promoting Other Writers Materials
Many writers are looking for websites who will allow advertisements of their ebooks and materials. They will pay you to put an ad on your site. Talk to other writers and editors and see if they offer advertisements like this. It’s important to network and branch out. The more a person knows you, the more they will trust you and be willing to give you money to help promote them.
Affiliate Marketing Ads
Advertisements such as Google Adsense can generate income on your blog. These ads may not always bring in a lot but every cent counts. And the bigger you become as a blogger, the better the advertisements will be. So, stick with it.
Personal Ads
For a small fee, you can add advertisements of your ebooks, promotional items, website membership or freelance writing skills on social media and other websites. These ads are can generate money by drawing in the people who are interested in what you have to offer.
Blog Membership
I don’t recommend having a membership fee for your blog unless you have been blogging for a long time and have a great following. The key to succeeding with blog membership is that you make it seem exclusive to your readers with freebies, advice, solid information and great giveaways. If you have something to teach and a great following, charging a blog membership fee can be profitable.
Products and Ebooks
You can sell products like t-shirts, coffee mugs or even ebooks on your blog for added income. There are actually sites that will help you design shirts and other products. Also, Amazon Kindle is a good resource if you are interested in writing ebooks. Do the research and be bold, it is when you step outside of the box that your income potential increases.
I highly recommend trying a combination of these things to generate a steady stream of income. If you only do one or two things you are limiting your earning potential. So, be sure to try several streams of income in regards to your blogging.
Blogging is one of the easiest and effective ways to make money online. And the best part? You can start today! It takes no advanced skills or equipment, just a computer and some creativity.
