Retro Reading: Drip Dead by Christy Evans
By the time you turn the last page to this last installment, you may ask yourself if this series was worth your time.
Unfortunately, as I look back, I do have some mixed feelings.
To start with, semi recurring character Gregory Whitlock (Georgie’s mother’s fiancé) is found dead under the crawl space of Sandra’s house. If Georgie hadn’t been doing an inspection of the plumbing, chances are he wouldn’t have been found for a few days.
Since Sandra was in the process of moving into Gregory’s newly built house, she was also immersed with the wedding plans and would only demand to know where and why he had disappeared.
Sandra becomes the prime suspect and creates havoc while incarcerated. But, I never seemed to have any sympathy for her. The reason behind this is she wasn’t a very likable character.
I had hoped that this would have been a better series than what it was.
Most crimozies feature heroines who are bakers or store owners involved with the police chief. This had none of those elements and I think Georgiana should have gone on more plumbing adventures.
Sure she‘s studying to become a plumber, but it seems as though she’s only working on the one project with other crewmen.
The series is rather flat, but quick reading since they are under 250 pages and include plumbing tips.
