Brave New World: Questions
Brave New World is about a bizarre world where human beings are created in machines. Large factories create hundreds of people every day. From the very beginning, these cloned humans are shaped into people that the government needs. If the government needs engineers then they create one, or, if they need a gardener, they create one of those too. These humans are under the control of the government because they have been hypnotizes and brainwashed. Hypnopedia, a type of brainwashing, is employed to the humans every night during their sleep. Thus, every human is completely void of agency. They have no free choices at all, but, they still are “happy” because they haven’t experienced the opposite.
What if… somehow, this way of life was destroyed? What if a rebel group formed and destroyed the government? What if the factories were destroyed and babies were born the regular and normal way? What if the government was overthrown and a new order was established? How would life rebuild itself after so many years of being under complete control?
Would life cease to exist because nobody would know how to live without being told what to do? People would wander around aimlessly, waiting for an order. Would the people know how raise a family or would it be a horrible disaster? After so many years of human beings being created and taught in a factory, raising a family would probably create a lot of problems. Who would rule the new world? Would concepts like democracy, liberty, and justice ever come back, and if they did how long would it take for the world to want them?
