Brave Stallion
Your spirit was not born on the open plains
But rather in the artists heart
Unborn as of yet behind an empty canvas
I searched for inspiration from my memories past
And heard the pounding hooves from my heart
Beyond the smell of my oil based paint
The gesso and the thinners
Reminiscent aroma fills my senses
With a scent so sublime
Of earth, wind and strength
The odor of the equine
On my palette I mix the medium
The ocher, Indian red and sienna
And with brush, knife and the tips of my fingers
I bring this form to life
The proud stance and rippling muscles
Are fervently laid in as detail
And a final touch, a hue of pearl white
My secret mix to add your majestic high light
Then with the tiniest of brushes
As thin as a horses hair
I wave in the flow of your mane
And bring my steed to life
My proud Brave Stallion
You were the center piece of the show
And now you are born and set free
To gallop through the artists soul
