Brown Dog on the Porch (a Haiku)

Updated on April 20, 2015
Brown dog on the porch...
Brown dog on the porch...
Autumn birds, so beautiful...
Autumn birds, so beautiful...
Wake up...get out...
Wake up...get out...
Is Time to get outside...
Is Time to get outside...

Lying on the Porch,

The brown dog is occupied.

Chewing my boot lace,

In his happy world, outside.

Sun's rays stream about,

While shadows dance... seasons shout.

"Autumn... time to hunt,"

"It's now, we must all get out."

Pup you are content,

To gnaw and chew... time spent,

Someday you will be,

Out to hunt and fetch, with me.

A true writer/poet can find beauty in the sublime....or the sublime in beauty...you did both. :)

Excellent and a bit like me, I like to create and not fussed about forms. However, since you call them Haiku's, then do the traditional style: 5, 7 and 5. These are like Sunryku's. (free-style). Here's a Haiku:

      "The silent old pond

      a mirror of ancient calm,

a frog-leaps-in splash."- English version of Basho's frog in the pond.

The ancient Seers were like you and me and did not care for forms. They called them Sutras/slokas. Our present day words are aphorisms, beatitudes ... David was a Master and Basho was a Master more in the philosophical mode.

Slokas are intended to do what I try to do: To reach the heart, to serve; to elevate; to inspire ...

      Excellent Bro. Much peace.

beautiful haiku about the brown dog. Actually I hate when a dog chews sandals or slippers. Boring or is he blending his teeth?

Every dog will have his day. Good lines although I am not expert on the haiku format.

The poem is wonderful, as are all your one of a kind pieces of art.
