Bruised Promises
Dappled light though window yonder,
frozen pen with thoughts to ponder.
Emotions churn, toil and linger.
They jab my heart with crocked finger.
Beauty stolen from broken trust,
her drunken love for which I lust.
Sorrow messages lay torn in despair,
now reposed, battled in disrepair.
If I pen this prose in my quake,
can there be peace with you I make?
I seal my fate with one last kiss,
send you this letter, to the love that I miss.
Our turbid past, my trepid ways,
are all but over, numbered are their days.
I miss our heat, your warmth and gaze,
our future exists in your next plays.
Bruised promises covered with tulle.
To navigate past tracks I’d be a fool.
If you return I’ll guarantee one thing,
I’d honor our vows set by this ring.
