Burning Ember

Updated on February 11, 2015

Burning ember in dark orange

Glowing against a night sky

Watch the fire burn

Intensity generated by twisting flame

Smoke like spirit rising to heaven

Fire burns

Fire steals

It throws but one ember

Carried by the wind

Falling at my feet

And another, and another, and another

Reminding me that in an eye's twinkle

Life's gifts are oft snatched by the smallest intruder

What feeds you orange foe?

Is it the night air that causes

Molten hands to reach for the stars?

You are angry

A tempest that cannot be tamed

Hot storm reigning through the night

You burn

You dance

The tango of the inferno

Reminding me that in an eye's twinkle

Life's gifts are oft snatched by a partner cruel.

Life is fragile as you say. You poem fully breathed life into the fire.

Thank you for reading and commenting. Fire is beautiful in it natural state, yet it has the power to destroy everything in the blink of an eye. That is the feeling that I tried to capture in the powm.

Thank you. I love writing about the elements. Nature to me is a kindred spirit.
