COLLECTING MODERN COMIC BOOKS AS AN INVESTMENT ( PART FOUR )

In the last few articles in this series we have looked at comics that i believe will at least steadily rise in value, some of those mentioned have included Thief of Thieves, Saga, Peter Panzerfaust and Revival, all of which have steadily gained in value since the articles were written. Indeed prices for Peter Panzerfaust have gone through the roof with even raw copies regularly attracting prices of around $ 200 + , incredible for a comic book that is not even 18 months old. This month lets have a look at some books that i feel could be attracting these sort of prices soon but are available for much less at the moment.

Although there was a big fanfare when this book was released last year with god knows how many different variants released of number one, the book didn't seem to take off and could be bought for even less than cover on eBay. Over the last month or so i have seen a slight rise in prices on this one so maybe with its loyal readership it is about to take off, might be worth buying a couple and seeing what happens.

It looks like the Syfy channel have taken up an option to turn this one into an ongoing television series, too be honest Syfy have not produced much good stuff apart from maybe Firefly but this still looks like it may be worth a small investment.

This is a modern that has been around for a while now, in fact since 2003 that features the first appearance of Laura Kinney ( X-23 ) a clone with adamantium claws created by the Weapon X program ( the sinister group who bonded adamantium to Wolverines skeleton ). This one has always sold for a bit of a premium but recently prices have risen quite steadily, now is the time to get a copy.

The prices of this book have gone through the roof lately, the series has been picked up by a new television production group Alcon Entertainment.

Although this comic is still available to buy on eBay for around its cover price, i feel this is a book that could really pay to invest in, originally planned as a mini series it now looks as though it will be an ongoing one, well written and drawn and could very well be looked at by television or movie producers.

The Last Of Us - American Dreams is a four issue mini series based on the Sony Playstation game The Last Of Us. The game has been critically acclaimed so the comic books which are a prequel to the game story look worth investing in.

Been a bit of a slow burner this one however there are now rumors of a film adaptation, the early issue can still be bought at a reasonable price so might be one to buy in case it rockets.The story involves a group of paranormal investigators who debunk paranormal sightings on their TV show Hoax Hunters however the show is a ruse to cover up their investigations into real paranormal activity.Sounds like a good premise for a horror movie.

This is a book which i mentioned in my last hub about investing in modern comics, since that article the book has shot up in price and is becoming increasingly hard to get hold of with the second and third prints selling for above cover, grab one if you can find one. The last Amazing Spider-man issue # 700 continues to be popular and also issue # 607 which features the Black Cat on the cover. Batman #1 from DCs New 52 continues to increase in value as does Hawkeye #1 from Marvel maybe having something to do with Jeremy Renners cool portrayal of the character in the Avengers movie.
