Cadillac-Don't Bug Me And My Fleetwood-Mac

Updated on February 27, 2010

I’d like to be behind the wheel of one of the finest cars.

I could buy myself a new one or maybe go to mars.

I don’t have the funds so that I could go that route,

So I’ll take a trip back in time, or maybe do without.

I can pretend I’m cruising with hoi polloi,

I’ll pretend my Cadillac “ride” is just another toy.

1903 Cadillac Runabout

I wish I could take a trip back to nineteen hundred and three.

I’d buy a Cadillac Runabout for my sweat-heart and me.

1927 Cadillac Victoria

Maybe a 1927 Victoria Coupe would be the Cadillac.

But it would be so hard to mount a proper bike rack.

It would be so cool; I’d feel so alive,

If only I could go back to 1955.

Elvis had some Fleetwoods and liked the color pink.

He had an El Dorado and painted it grape, I think.

I‘ve known some older Caddies and loved how they could float,

Like sailing on the ocean in a huge and wonderful boat.

El Dorado

I got into a time machine and tripped to 1993.

I bought an El Dorado that I felt was right for me.

I tried to update the stereo but the speakers really stunk.

I crashed into a toll booth and sold it just for junk.

Cadillac Deville

So I went back in the time machine to 1994.

I bought a Cadillac De Ville, a classic old four door.

It’s smooth and clean with pretty leather seats.

It’s a great car for a frugal old man, to cruise the city streets.

I love the way it floats, like a ship out on the sea.

When I top a short, steep hill, the hood is all I see.

This Caddy is so long I don’t have the slightest clue,

Where my front bumper is or where the rear is too.

I didn’t make this car or make the seats of leather.

But in the end it’s I, who has to decide if whether,

I should have gone more in debt and bought another car,

That uses a lot less gas and takes me oh so far.

But I would need another job and need a lot more bread.

So I went back in time and bought a smoother ride instead.

Alas and alack, please cut me some slack,

I’m really just giving recycling a whack.

So don’t be bugging me or my Fleetwood Mac.

I'm just an old "has-been" driving my Cadillac.

Cool, Micky Dee, cool. I like it.

Have you had opportunity to check out my "Cadillac Tune" Hub? Don't forget to take the two polls - your vote counts!

We should start linking all the Cadillac Hubs, what do you think?

Howdy Maita. I did ride yesterday but only 32 minutes or so on my rollers (inside machine). I probably didn't burn the calories I consumed. Today I'll ride the same amount but I hope twice. I keep gaining ounces that accumulate into pounds. I my I have two fears. One is fat. Be warm and be careful out there!

Howdy Hotspur. Thanks for dropping by and the kind words. I'm always on a bike- or as much as the weather will allow. Even when the weather isn't kind I try to ride a bike on rollers inside or something to hold the weight down and keep the heart going. I've ridden a bike as a hobby, almost, since leaving the Marine Corps in the early 70s.

Hi Poetlorraine. Actually I just got up. Couldn't sleep. Thought I'd try writing a hub. It's turning 6 now where I am and I haven't slept much. I'm going to start some espresso and see what my mind can issue.

WOW! You are good, you can make a poem from any situation. I love it. I try to wax poetic at times, but I don't think that I would measure up to standards set by a real poet such as yourself.

Besides being a fan of Stevie Nicks/Fleetwood Mac, I think this is a great hub! I really like the green one. And your poetry as well. I wish you would put "Cadillacs in the news" to this hub.

Not sure what you mean "Cadillacs in the news" but researching I found other hubs. I should link them up.

I love Caddy's....such a smooth ride and an even smoother cruising appearance to go along with it. My great grandpa was very classic and classy and always drove a Caddy...its in the blood to love those big boat cars...very safe too! I particularly loved modeling for the nice Devilles at the lowrider shows back in the day....There is nothing like a Caddy!

Nice. My son is driving his Grandmother's caddy, 1991, I think. You just can't help but respond to luxury, it spoils you. "Sweet Lorraine" was country Joe and the Fish. Am I crazy or right??

Maybe the song's wasn't Sweet Loraine. Sweet Loraine, when googled is a "Uriah Heep" tribute band. It's a song sung by Nat King Cole. Soooo...I think we're both lost a little. Let's keep looking. Thanks Brynda.
