Carols in October
Jingle bells jingle bells and all that ringing in my ears
The bells of Christmas early at the supermarket door
Salvation Army kettle before a young woman losing her youth
To the heavy burdens of saving the souls of ghetto dwellers
On the gully bank of soft smiles and heavy whispers of guns
And roses red and black and blue on the casket this morning
Down at Dovecot Memorial Park where the pastor hoarsely
Muttered dust to dust and the gravediggers quickly covered up
The final resting place and begged tips from anyone
In a clean suit on the edge of the crowd while the jukebox
Played carols in October for Christmas early this year
