Cathy's Poem
"Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep"
Prelude
When my Aunt Cathy passed away some years ago, I honestly didn't know how to handle it. I had great memories of her as a child, but not so great memories of her as an adult. The truth is my Aunt Cathy struggled with addiction and was a lost soul looking for a kind of love that none of us in the family could give her. I wanted to honor her at her wake by remembering the good times and the love I knew my whole family had for her. May my poem bring her peace and solice to those who need it and can relate to my story.
Cathy's Poem
To look out my window and find the words to say,
Somehow seems just beyond my reach this very day.
I try to imagine the emotions you left behind,
But any thoughts doing you justice don’t bless my mind.
So how do I tell you you’ll be missed?
How do we know you’ll hear our wishes?
Will you guide the sun to us every day?
Or will you make the rain come our way?
Will you remember how much we loved you while you’re up above?
Promise not to forget, as surrounded in heavenly love.
We know you’ll be happy and safe for all time;
A peaceful bliss one could only hope to find.
My words might not mean much & maybe came out wrong.
But in short, I just wanted to say what sometimes is never said all along.
Good and bad, past and present, we were here for you.
At the end, please don’t forget, we love you too.
