Change Is In The Air...Rhyming Verse

Updated on December 1, 2016
always exploring profile image

My name is Ruby. I write poetry, flash fiction and short stories. I am a dreamer who believes in equality for all mankind.

Change is in the air

My bones feel the chill as I sit and stare

Into the gray, drab lifeless sky

Where the Ravens no longer fly

Only the wind communicates by howling a sad tune

As I watch the sunset and the rising moon

The Hummingbird feeder cleaned and stored away

To sit dormant until the tiny birds return on a warm, sunny day

My House Finches are gathered around their feeder, I wonder if they miss the Hummingbirds as much as I do?

Squiggley ( My pet Squirrel ) is piling up pecans in the damp evening dew

The abandoned birdhouse is swinging wildly in the wind, awaiting to house babies once again

It provided a safe haven, and will come alive in the early Spring

Chirping babies, Mama singing her sweet melody refrain

My neighbor's cat uninterested in chasing my bird's today

I guess he's missing the warm sun's ray

I guess I'll just turn on Otis Redding and pretend I'm soaking up the warm sun while sitting " On The Dock Of The Bay "

Hello Genna. When the season changes and the cold seeps in, I get a yearning to go South. I must admit that I'm fearful of traveling with the the unrest around the country. Otis is another favorite of mine, so glad you enjoyed the video. Thank you for the visit. Hugs my friend...

Hi Ruby. Your poem bodes, beautifully, the coming of winter, and is also a great metaphor. When I drive to the shore, the incoming waves seemed to have turned a bit grayer; colder. The Redding tune is perfect. Hugs and happy Sunday. :-)

      Hello Shyron.

I'm always happy to read your poems so sweet

It's a shame you don't live just up the street

We would have coffee and rhyme to our heart's content

We could even talk politics and have a lively event

Aha, but soon this winter will pass on by

And soon my birds will return and fly

Until then we will write our poems

And hibernate in our warm home's

      Thank you my poetic friend

      Hugs galore!

A beautiful rhyming poem describing the change of season. I was afraid when clicking it may not turn out to be the change of political air. Now, I am very pleased to see it is about the season and nature. Enjoyed it much.

      Ruby, Ruby my dear friend

It is so sad to see the summer end

And when the chill of winter begins

      With the swirling icy winds

Blowing away most of our feathered friends

We will keep our faith on these dreary days

Until the sun burns the dark clouds away
