Stars that go flashing on by

Are like chariots riding the sky

There's been a hole in my heart

Since the moment when we had to part

I know you're free

Flying without me

And you're no longer feeling pain

But I miss you so

I wonder if you know

And how I'm dealing with the strain

Once I was pretty and young

Once you were pretty and strong

Now my skin is wrinkled and I'm gray

Since the day when you went away

And now you're free

Flying without me

Where there are no more tears or pain

But my life is slow

As I wait to go

Back home to your arms again

But you're dancing now

Out in the coldness of space

I try to find my new place

You were the heart of the sun

Tears won't put out when I'm done

And I know now you're free

Dancing without me

Feeling the sun on your face

But I still miss you so

And I can't wait to go

To meet you in that holy place

But you're dancing now

Stars that shine in the sky

The chariot takes me to die

I'm sorry I've caused you all pain

But now I can be whole again

And I know you are free

So please just wait for me

I cannot wait any more

I've been waiting so long

I've sung this old song

But now I can step through the door

And we're dancing now

This is beautiful, Chris. The loss of a loved one is the most difficult thing to endure. We are never the same without them, it changes how we see things, how we feel, how we think, how we function forever. I lost my beloved brother 2 years ago and I still miss him terribly each day. He is always in my thoughts, without fail. It's just how it is. I, too, can't wait to see him again, without sounding morbid, I look forward to it with a smile in my heart.

This is a beautiful tribute to your loved one. Well done and amazing. Peace and continued healing wishes to you, dear one.

Thank you all for reading and commenting. I'm sorry that my response is not better but it's still surprising when the feelings come. Thank you.

Our star doesn't shine as brightly anymore.

Loss of a love is a pain only time will heal. The loss and the pain is beautifully expressed here.

The loss of a loved one, whether literal or figuratively, is incredibly painful. Beautifully captured in this lovely poem.
