Children Live What They Learn
Have you ever listened with great intent
As a Child delivers a story
One simply cannot do it with half attention
But rather with full concentration and a very listening ear
Their little voices the infliction
The excitement and joy comes not from the telling
But from awareness that you are listening and give apt attention
To raise a happy, healthy Child
One must take care to give undivided attention
I know at times we get busy
trying to make a life
Exhaustion at times make the will weaker
A good parent finds the time for little voices that harkens
They tell you everything
If you listen with intent.
I listen with great intent as Jordie told his tale
He battled Alligators and over rocks, he did climb
And up and up he went
To save the little Princess from the bad Men he intoned
And as his Mother listened I heard what he did not say
His Parents gave him undivided attention
Time to dream and taught him how to play
They fostered his imagination
And right from wrong he learned
And as I listened carefully
I learned all he had to say.
For the Knight who saved the Princess from the bad Men. Although it does combine the actions of my three Son's as defining them as they engaged in outdoor play. Hunting for buried treasures and rescuing their little Sister from the boogie Man.
