Children's Poems by Kids

Updated on March 29, 2012
Silly Coocoo Clock
Silly Coocoo Clock | Source

A while back my children heard me talking about the poetry contest on HubPage. All three got very excited and begged me to let them submit a poem or two. Of course I couldn't tell them no, so I told them to make me some poems and we would type them up, choose photos and publish them together. The little two (6 and 7) got bored with the idea and never did give me a completed poem. If I ever get the other poems I will add them here. However, my 10 year old loved the idea and pounded out a couple poems right away. This is what she came up with:

THE WEIRD COOCOO CLOCK

Our coocoo clock is weird

It goes coo coo, choo choo, goo goo, moo

Sometimes it goes moo moo, goo goo, choo choo, coo

Guess what? It's two!

POEMS

Poems, poems, poems

Poems everywhere.

Poems, poems, poems,

Poems floating in the air.

Poems, poems, poems,

Poems can be read anywhere!

Haha PDX, she IS a very bright kid...what can I say?! She prefers the poetry style known as "repetitus"

I like these. The line "poems poems poems" is especially profound :-)

Hi zzron!! Its great to see you in here. I agree with you. And here I always thought my kids were just hyper but it turns out they are just very excited about life. And I don’t stifle that – I encourage it.

Hello makusr :) I love KISS! Sometimes when I get talking I probably need to remember that saying. I will give love and hugs to her, thanks!!

Hello ubanichijioke, I’ve been wondering where you went. I haven’t seen anything from you lately. Thanks for your kind words.

Gypsy Rose, the lady with my favorite name! Thank you so much for your sweet words. Would you believe this was the kid I had to bribe to sit down and write a letter to her cousin out of state? Oy, you never know what to expect.

Hi Tammy :D Thank you and thank you for your super sweet words! Of course I think she’s perfect but I do tend to be a little biased. It was good seeing you!

This was very cute. It is good to teach children things of talent and creativity at an early age. You can tell the interest a child has in any subject by their enthusiasm.

Hi RHW, I really should start a book of the poems too :) I can scrapbook them so I have the writing in their sloppy words and with their own illustrations. My girl is pretty neat but one thing she can't do? Clean. Yup, you heard it here - the child is a PIG

Hi Rosemay! Bette says thank you very much and have a good day. Hahah I dont know...she's so formal, eh? And then I explained what votes are and she got all excited! Thanks for reading :)

Hello molometer :) Thanks from the daughter AND the dang cuckoo clock - neither of them ever say or do what they're expected to.

Haunty, I didnt even notice the typo hahah Im sure I've made them on other hubs too. And I admit Im not afraid to use child labor!!!!!!

Well, I only meant that to be funny, and maybe as a compliment to Bette. Also, I'm on the side of using everything you can get your hands on to win the race - even child labor. The end justifies the means. ;)

Sorry for the typo in my previous comment. I joked about that once so it was bound to happen to me.

Erm excuse me Mrs P I thought you were supposed to do the work, not use child labour to get the job done. Even so I can't wait to see the 3rd poem added. Kids make us really proud.
