Come Sit By Me A While:A Mother's Love.
I made a promise last Saturday that the next visit would be very soon and so it is !!!
As you cans see I have made Mince Pies and kept some for you all with just a little question to ask you all : I need your advice.
The pastry is Ok but only just Ok; It is a little hard although it has softened a little since they've been in the storage tin. I made pastry for the second time in my new food processor and my first attempt was a great success. The pastry soft and delicious ;however the sections of the tin I baked the pies in was very small so yesterday I bought a new baking tin with the sections a lot larger. This may have been the problem and I would be grateful for any tips.
Right do you all have your hot drinks and out we go into my sweet haven.
This is a true story going back to when I would have been about nine or ten years old.
I have always loved animals and as a little girl they became very important members of my family.
Their love was unconditional and they did not play mind games like many humans did.
Their maternal instincts so obvious and never questioned.
I hope you enjoy the following story.
One day I spied
A beautiful black cat.
She looked stunning
From where she was sat.
To and fro she travelled
Each and every day.
I tried to coax her to me
She wouldn't have it ! No way !!
She didn't turn up
For about a fortnight
I worried about her
And prayed she was alright.
However she returned
But what was this ?
Also a little white kitten
Whose charm you could not miss.!!!
The kitten ran over
And I cuddled him to me.
But Blackie remained aloof
And looked on knowingly.
After a while she gave a meow
And her kitten ran back to Mum.
But it wasn't the story's end.
There was much more to come.
Because of her colour
I named Mum Blackie.
And for the same reason
I named her baby Snowy.
However on one sunny day
As always they both arrived.
But Blackie secretly left us
And Snowy never left my side.
Snowy became my dear shadow
And also loved my beagle Lassie.
He played and I laughed
And made me so happy.
He would pounce out
As I ran very quickly.
He would give a daft smile
As I tickled his tummy.
He grew into a beauty
A big, white fluffy cat .
His purring so loud
As he sat on my lap.
He would follow me and Lassie
When we went for a walk
He would hide in the grass
And pretend to stalk.
As I went to bed
I said my prayers.
I could hear my Snowy
Running up the stairs.
He would climb into my bed
With my Lassie and me.
We were all cuddled together
As happy as could be.
Snowy grew into a beauty
He lived with me for years.
With a spirit as pure as can be
He always dried my tears.
I can remember him now
The memory as plain as could be.
We were truly inseparable,
Lassie, Snowy and me.
Many times I thought of Blackie
In her wisdom so rare.
She had brought me her baby
And left him in my care.
I thanked her from my heart
So very honoured and sincere.
She had given me her son
And I thank you Blackie dear !!!

Of all god's creations there is only one that cannot be made slave of the leash. That one is the cat. If man could be crossed with the cat it would improve man, but it would deteriorate the cat.
