Come to the Table
A Poem of Thanksgiving
Come to the table
Prepared by loving hands.
Share the abundance;
Our gifts to you.
You do not know me
I am a stranger
Today I open my heart
I give you the bread of life
Prepared by loving hands.
Come to the table;
It has been dressed with love.
A fine array of harvest
From our garden to you.
You do not know me;
I am a stranger.
Today I open my eyes;
I see we are the same.
Flesh, bone, skin, blood
Our humanity binds us.
Come to the table
Prepared by loving hands.
From this table I offer food;
From this table I offer drink;
From this table I offer mercy;
Come to the table
Prepared with loving hands.
You will not be turned away;
Come and sit by my side.
You are among friends.
No longer strangers
Only family.
Come to our table;
Prepared with hands of love.
