Communication Frustration

Communication Frustration

I volunteered for this mission...
Whatever was I thinking?
This planet is quite scarey...
its civilization sinking!
I was tasked to learn and study
earthly communications,
The language here is based on
age and local permutations.
The words they choose don't coincide
with the thoughts meant to convey...
More oft than not, their ideas
come out warped by what they say!
Each place and age's lingo
differs with distinction...
and as each does develop,
existing rules fall to extinction!
Their lexicon and grammar,
their syntax and intent...
transform, mutate, and wander
to a student's great torment...
And as technology advances,
language skills seem to decline,
as their dictionaries fail to
evolve what they define.
Yes, whatever was I thinking
when I volunteered to go?
The communication of the earthling
is more confusing than Van Gogh!

tilsonititan, thank you very much. I must confess, Epigramman has had a great influence upon my writing, and it was his influence behind this little piece. I am tickled you liked it!

Really cool...you lead the reader and set out an age old problem in just a few lines from an 'alien' perspective. Loved it. Voted up and interesting (due to the point of view you used.)

Lyjo, thanks! I don't know what to do! But I know, if I were an alien, I would be hard pressed to figure out how we humans communicate at all! lol
