Confession is Healing for the Soul
She bared her soul stripped away all the façade
Exposed her inner pain
Cathartic tears rain down on a face time has been
Less than kind too
In the darkest reminisces she came
Face to face with the demons that tortured
Her being
A broken spirit she stood outside herself
And viewed the wreckage she called her life
In her agony she could find no release
Hurting there was nothing to numb the pain
There wasn’t a drink capable or a drug
Potent enough to erase her mistakes
As she reflected on the doors slammed in her face
The phone calls that went unanswered
Letters returned to sender
It became abundantly clear
It was her provocation for self-destruction
That pushed everyone away
Taking responsibility for her life for the first time
She knew there were bridges that needed restoration
But she started first with herself
Forgiving her and learning to love who she was
And understanding this didn’t have
To be a defeat
She came out resilient and had empathy for others
Her next journey she identified what needed to be finalized
She stood before her tormentor staring into her own eyes
Confession is healing for the soul
