Constant Critic
You’re always there
to lend a helping hand
being sure
to point out my flaws
and say out loud
what I’ve done all wrong.
Expectations undefined
demands too high to see
drowning in a sorrow
of mine alone.
When you come around
I am sure to know
the dissatisfied stare
harsh words to follow
walk of disgust
that let's me know
all I give
is
never good enough.
Days and nights
slaving away
matter little
to the challenge
of my constant critic
nipping at my heels.
