LOVE IS BLIND...
Today was shopping Day for Lover Man and I. Neither of us is crazy about the chore, but we have to eat, so we try to make it an Adventure out. We chose a place called "Carnival" which carries EVERYTHING from Fruit to Nuts to "Delicacies". The last time we shopped there, we were told to park around the side and go in the back way, and avoid having to troop through the entire store. The back is where they keep the Delicious Rotisserie Chickens at a $4.99 a chicken, I may never cook a Chicken again! Only kidding, Susan, better known as "Just Ask Susan" a Wonderful Hubber, with the greatest Chicken recipes! If you haven't been to her Hub Page, well it's a must...Recipes to die for!
Ok, so what's this Hub going to be about you ask? It's going to be about, "Daniel Duck Chicken", whom we met after we parked the car and were walking to the side entrance. He was standing under a tree just watching us. "What on Earth is that"? I said to Lover Man. "I don't know" came his reply and then the three of us just stood looking at one another.
"What's the matter? Haven't you two ever seen a "Muscovy Duck" before he said. Well that's what I am, and my name is "Daniel". "Actually I said, and I don't mean to be Impolite...but you look like a cross between a Duck and a Chicken, Daniel". "Oh, like I haven't heard that one before" he replied sighing deeply. "You're really quite Interesting looking" Lover Man said. Another deep sigh came from Daniel. "Hey, he said addressing Lover Man, would you rate me as Handsome...I can look pretty good with my red crown slicked back". "You're asking me? You should be asking my wife". "Women lie", came Daniels reply, giving me the once over.
"Daniel, do you live here in this parking lot"? I asked. "Yes, I do...It's really not so bad, I'll walk you around back and you will see down that embankment there is a small canal that I swim in". The three of us walk silently and look. We are surprised there are a few trees and shade and, the Canal. "This really is pretty nice" I say. "Do you think another "Muscovy" could be happy here" he asks excitedly. "Yes, yes I do" trying to sound sincere. "Daniel, do you have a Lady friend"? "I do, he replies excitedly, her name is "Gertrude" and having said that, he whips out her picture. "Oh she's Lovely...isn't she Lovely" I say to Lover Man, who agrees, with a nod of approval.
"How did you "Muscovy's" meet?" I ask. "Through a family friend, came Daniel's reply. What you thought I didn't have a family, no one cared about me?" "Hey Daniel don't get your Feathers ruffled" Lover Man said quietly. "Sorry came Daniels reply, I guess I'm just nervous that Gertrude won't find me attractive, after all she's so Beautiful...he said his voice trailing off. "Oh Daniel, she will, I think you're quite Handsome", I said. "Really"? he said, looking up at me. I don't just look like a cross between a Duck and a Chicken"?. "I'm not going to lie to you Daniel, you do...But we are People, and that's how we see you...but Gertrude is just like you, except she's Pretty, and she will think you are Handsome", I said smiling down at him.
"Hey thanks People, I've got to fly now, I'm meeting her flight". "Good luck Daniel", we both said in unison, as we departed. "Hey, are we still going to buy that delicious chicken"? I said to Lover Man as we entered the store. "You bet" came his reply, "I'm starving, talking to Daniel made me realize how Hungry I am for chicken"!
