"Dance With Me"

We shared a dance or two once,
in this dark and gloomy room.
I was entranced
by your impertinence.
There was no meaning
behind your presence,
no reason in your mind,
just a longing to be loved,
even though you could not love back.
So I danced with you,
until I fell,
but you did not catch me.
You let me fall to the floor,
and you left me where I laid.
Though I cried out,
"Dance with me."
you had had your fill,
and you left the dance floor
to seek a new partner.
