Dark Love: The Rebirth Part V

Updated on April 27, 2017

XVII

“Why did you bind your powers?” Melanie asked

Everyone sat in the living room as Sebastian lit a fire in the fireplace.

“When I was ten years old, I came into my powers. It was too much and my parents gave me the potion to bind them. Kya unbound them and she told me that she needed my help. She promised if I helped her, she’d bring Tonya to me.” Edmond replied

“That was a bloody lie.” Melanie muttered under her breath

“Melanie…” Nicholas hissed

“It was…” Melanie whispered

“What I still don’t understand is why Cassidy left Damien.” Rae chimed in

“My brother is a monster.” Cassidy spoke up

They all looked up to see her standing in the entranceway, Tonya behind her. She wore a long sleeve night shirt and hair was still wet from the shower.

“And to think we welcomed him into our home.” Danielle sighed

“He did bad things to Tonya and to me.” Cassidy paused

Tears formed in her eyes and Tonya knelt down and hugged her tightly.

“Come on love, you need to rest.” Tonya suggested

“Melanie do you do know anything about this?” Rae asked

Melanie shrugged, “Tonya’s never wanted to talk about it. I doubt Cassidy will want to either.”

“Maybe in time; children can be so resilient.” Nicholas continued

Rae excused herself, Sebastian followed her through the throne room and out onto the balcony. The crystal shined in the moon’s white light as he walked up next to her. Clouds began to gather, snow began to fall.

“Am I dreaming? And don’t think about pinching me. For a long time I felt there was something missing in my life. The fame and fortune was a huge distraction, but when the nightmares started the feeling returned. Meeting you and the coven, learning about my past life, the feeling disappeared. I felt whole.”

He put his arm around her waist pulling her close to him. The faint scent of her perfume brushed under his nose, making him smile.

“It’s not a dream Rae. Together we defeated the Hunters and put an end to a fifty year old war. After losing Charlotte, I didn’t think that I’d find love again. Someone to share eternity with. When I met you, the feeling of numbness inside began to fade. You showed me it was possible to love again and I thank you for that.”

Heat rose in her cheeks, she leaned up and kissed him on the cheek. She felt him pull away, tears formed in her eyes as he got down on one knee. He pulled out a small gray velvet box and opened it. Inside was a white gold ring with a square cut diamond in the center.

“Rea Turner will you marry me?”

Tears began rolling down her cheeks and slowly her head began nodding.

“Yes I will marry you!” She replied sweetly

He slipped the ring onto her finger, she leaped into his arms, legs wrapping around his waist. Spinning her around, their lips met, and then he put her down. They left the mansion and walked back to his cottage.

The next day she walked into the studio, Gina was sitting at her desk as she walked by.

“Good morning… get your butt back here.” Gina said

Rae stopped before going into her office and walked back.

“Well good morning to you too.” Rae said

“Let’s see it.” Gina commanded

“See what Gina?”

Gina laughed and then looked serious, “Girl I know something shiny caught my eye when you passed my desk. Don’t play with me Rae. Let’s see it.”

Rae blushed and held up her left hand. Gina took it and stared at the small engagement ring.

“Congratulations! When did he pop the question?” She asked

“Thanks. Last night.” Rae replied

“Y’all set a date yet?”

“Not yet; we were going to discuss that tonight.”

Sam walked in; Rae slowly turned around and held up her hand. They both screamed and hugged. Slowly they stepped back.

“When?” She asked

“Last night…” Rae replied

“Does everyone know?”

Rae shook her head ‘No.’ “We’re going to tell them tonight.”

“Great.”

“Sam will you be my maid of honor? Gina will you be a bridesmaid?”

“Of course!” They said together

“Great. So what’s on the schedule?”

Gina opened the calendar on her computer and began looking.

“There are two college students who applied to be interns. I forward their resumes to you. Once you look them over, I can call them and set up interviews today. Sam, Ms. Becker called and would like to come in to discuss the details for the ‘Ice Ball.’ You both got invitations to.”

She handed Sam, their invitations.

“Oh boy another fancy New York City swore.” Rae sighed

“Look on the bright side. At least we have dates.” Sam commented

Rae went to say something, but paused after hearing what Sam said.

“You have a date? Who is the lucky victim?” Rae asked

“Very funny; Clint will be my date for the evening.”

“Who is Clint?” Gina asked

“He’s friends with Sebastian.” Rae replied

“I hope he turns out to be a keeper.” Gina continued

They laughed as Sam and Rae walked back to their offices. She walked in and sat down at her desk. After booting up her computer and opening ‘Microsoft Outlook’, she saw the email from Gina with documents attached.

She opened the first one. Her name was Ashley Warren; originally from New Orleans and studying photography at Ramapo College of New Jersey. She was a senior and it was suggested she do an internship before graduating. The next one, his name was Adam Winters and lived in Montclair, New Jersey. He was a junior studying journalism and photography at Montclair State University. It was required of him to do an internship to graduate. Both sounded so eager to learn and work with her and Sam.

“Gina!” Rae called

“What’s up boss lady?” Gina asked

She appeared in the entranceway of her office.

“Call them both and set up interviews for today. See what time works for them and let me know.”

“You got it.”

She walked back out and Rae continued to check her emails. An hour later Gina walked back in.

“Ms. Warren will be here at four and right after that Mr. Winters will be here at five.” She said

“What time is Sam’s appointment with Mrs. Becker?”

“She’ll be coming in at two. Sam doesn’t have any idea how long she’ll be. But will make sure to be done in an hour.”

“Great. Could you call this number for my new car service? I wanted to go out.”

“Feeling inspired again?”

“Yeah. Thanks Gina you’re the best.”

“No problem.”

Her bottom desk drawer opened and her camera case landed in front of her. She unzipped the bag and saw her camera, two lenses, extra batteries, and her memory cards. Gina walked back in.

“Phil said he’ll be here in ten minutes.” She explained

“Thank you.”

She went into her center drawer and took out a small plastic wallet. Her purse came out from her left bottom draw and her larger wallet came out. She put her driver’s license, some cash and her credit cards inside. As she walked out of her office, Phil pulled up in front of the studio.

The car door opened as she got in, the partition was lowered and Phil turned to face her.

“Hey Rae how are you?” He asked

“Hey Phil. I’m good. How are you?” Rae replied

“Great. Where to miss?”

“Dark Palace…”

“Are you sure? The crime scene tape is still up.”

“It’s alright; I think Detective Helms will make an exception for me.”

He pulled away from the studio as she sat back.

“Have you been to the mansion?” She asked

“I was there this morning. Mr. Cartier needed a ride back to his apartment.” He replied

“Mr. Cartier?”

“Edmond; he wanted to pick up an overnight bag.”

“Oh… How’s Cassidy?”

“She was still sleeping. Tonya said she hadn’t slept in a few days.”

“That poor girl. I wonder if she’ll want to talk about why she left. It still bothers me, being that loyal to family and suddenly wanting to leave.”

“Children are very resilient. I have a feeling she’ll want to talk soon.”

“I hope so.”

The car stopped in front of Dark Palace. She thanked Phil and got out of the car. Yellow crime scene tape lined the outer perimeter of the club as she stopped and went under.

Walking into the club, it was empty. All the furniture had been taken into evidence. The walls were stripped and the floor had been pulled up, leaving gray concrete beneath. She took out her camera and began taking pictures.

“Ms. Turner?” A male voice called

She turned around to see Detective Warner standing in the entrance way. He was holding the crime scene tape, it was rolled up.

“Detective Warner, am I disturbing the crime scene?” She asked

“No; I was told to take the tape down. What are you doing here?”

“I wanted to take some before photos. And once the work is done I’ll take after photos.”

“Oh that’s very interesting. Is this going to be a new collection or personal?”

“I’m not sure yet. But when I do another showing, I’ll send you and Detective Helms tickets. Which precinct do you two work out of?”

“That would be great. Do you still have our cards? The address is on there.”

“I do. Great.”

“I’ll let you get back to work. It was good seeing you.”

“You too.”

He waved and left, she continued to work. An hour later Phil returned, she opened the door to see Edmond sitting with his earbuds in his ears. He looked up and waved as she sat down.

“Hey Rae; How are you?” He asked

“Hey Edmond; I’m good. How are you?” Rae replied

“I’m a little tired. Spent most of the night with Tonya. Cassidy was having bad nightmares last night.”

“Oh god.”

The car pulled away from the club. Her seatbelt buckled as the car turned at a corner.

“Did she say anything about why she left Damien?” She asked

“Just kept calling her brother a monster.” He paused

Her cell phone rang; she sat up and took her phone out of her back pocket. Melanie’s number flashed on the screen.

“Hey what are you doing up?” Rae asked

“Cassidy had another nightmare. I convinced her to talk to us tonight. Tonya seemed uneasy, but also agreed.”

“Alright. I have two interviews later this afternoon. I’ll be back once I’m done.”

“Great. I’ll see you later.”

Phil dropped her off, she noticed a woman standing across the street, waiting to cross. As the car pulled away, the woman appeared beside Rae. She wore a long brown trench coat, blue jeans, and brown heeled boots. Her light blue hair was tied back into a ponytail, brown eyes sat behind a pair of ‘cat eye’ glasses.

“Excuse me, are you Rae Turner?” She asked

She stopped and turned to her.

“I am. Can I help you with something?” Rea replied

“My name is Diana Coleman. Let me start by saying it’s an honor to meet a talented artist.”

They shook hands and Rae smiled.

“Thank you. What can I do you for you?”

“I don’t want to interrupt your day if you’re busy.”

“It’s not a problem. Please come inside, warm up and we can talk in my office.”

“Thank you.”

She opened the door for her and they walked inside.

“Gina let me know when my interviews have arrived.” She commented

“No problem.” Gina replied

They walked into her office, the door shut behind them. Diana took her coat off, revealing a long sleeved purple top.

“So what can I do for you Ms. Coleman?” Rae asked

“Well, I’ve been trying to find you. You and your vampire coven have become quite popular in the supernatural community.” Diana replied

“That’s amazing; Coleman…I know this isn’t going to sound insane, but are you Armand’s little sister?”

Diana nodded, “My young apprentice had a spell go wrong. It caused me to stop aging. Honestly he did me a huge favor.”

She could hear hints of her British accent within some of her words.

“So why track me down after all these years?”

“I wanted to thank you for ending my half-sister and brother’s little reign of terror. After Armand was born without powers, our father disowned him. I left before he could recruit me to join the Hunters. From what I heard he remarried and was overjoyed when Kya and Marcus were born. They gave witches and wizards a bad reputation.”

XVIII

“Well, now I don’t feel so terrible defeating them.”

Diana laughed, “Don’t and believe me it’s a blessing in disguise. Was it your choice not to be turned?”

Rae blushed and Diana giggled fixing her glasses. “I’m sorry if I embarrassed you. It was just a shock to me that you’re mortal.”

“It’s alright; that just came out of left field. It was my choice to remain mortal. The coven thought I was insane, but I stuck to my beliefs.”

“That’s brilliant Rae. Sometimes people are so rooted in their own beliefs and think they know what will work best. But you proved to them that you were capable of defeating the Hunters.”

“It was also with help from an ancient jewel that had been in Cat’s family for centuries.”

“The Red Moon Crystal; one of the most powerful pieces of ancient magic.”

“That’s right. I’m guessing most of the community is aware of it.”

“They are, but I don’t want to take up any more of your time. I would like to talk more, here is my card and phone number is on the bottom.”

At that moment, Gina knocked and walked in. Diana waved and walked out; Rae waved and then turned her attention to Gina.

“Ms. Warren is here and Mr. Winters is early, she had a change in her schedule.” She said

“Alright; where’s Sam?” Rae replied

“She’s still with Mrs. Becker.”

“Let me go meet them and maybe we could do two separate interviews. One with me and Sam will finish.”

“Sounds like a plan.”

She stood up, but then took a step back. Gina saw her still standing by her desk.

“You okay?” She asked

“Yeah I’m fine. Could you order me a tuna salad sandwich and French fries?”

“No problem.”

They walked out to the waiting area. A young girl and man sat next to each other. Both were dressed in black shoes, blue jeans, blue and white long sleeved buttoned shirts. Their backpacks sat in front of them, but suddenly they stood up seeing Rae walking up to them.

“Mr. Winters, Ms. Warren, welcome to Turner Studios.” Rae began

She shook hands with both of them. They followed her back into her office, Gina brought had brought in another chair. She gestured for them to sit down.

“Let me say thank you for showing interest to intern here. And don’t worry you will get paid, if you get hired. To start you’ll interview with me and my co-owner Sam will be the second part of the interview process. Now, you’re both seniors?”

“Yes.” They replied

“Tell me about yourself Ms. Warren.” Rae continued

“Currently I’m finishing up senior year and am hopefully graduating in January. I have enjoyed photography and capturing a candid moment or nature. My senior project I created a large collage starting from freshman year until now.”

“Interesting; what about you Mr. Winters?” Rae replied

“I’m almost done with senior year and hopefully will graduate in January too. Most of my photos have been from weddings, bar and bat mitzvahs, and games either away or at school. I was asked to make a video of all the games I attended. And my professor approved this to be my senior project.”

“Sounds great; now while interning here, we won’t be sending you to get coffee. You will be working with either me or Sam here at the studio. Or you will come with us to an event and help with setup, take down; plus take some of your own photos. If you get the internship, we’ll work around your schedule. When it comes to family events or personal, if you need off, tell Gina and she’ll mark it in the calendar. But make sure to do it two weeks in advance. Any questions for me?”

“No.” They replied together

Gina appeared in the doorway, giving Rae a thumb up. She winked and then stood up, both of them followed.

“Sam is ready for you. Gina will take you into her office. It was nice meeting both of you and you’ll hear back from us within a week. Good luck.” Rae said

“Thank you.” They said together

They followed Gina into the studio; she sat down as her camera came out of its case and landed in front of her. A connector cable came out from her center drawer and she attached one end to the camera and the other to her computer. The photos she took at Dark Palace transferred to her editing program. Gina brought her food in.

“Three hundred and fifty shots; I must be losing my touch.” She said out loud

She began editing and got lost in cropping out certain parts of the club. By six Sam walked in, her blue wool pea coat hanging over her arm. Rae saved her work and shut down her computer.

“So how are you and Sebastian going to announce your engagement?” She asked

“Oh you know over dinner tonight.” Rae replied

Sam laughed, “No seriously; does Sebastian have any ideas?”

“That is a good question Sam. And to answer you, I do.” Sebastian interrupted

Sam looked at the entrance; Sebastian was leaning against the entrance. His hair was tied back into a ponytail; he wore a pair of black sneakers, blue jeans, black t-shirt with a black leather jacket over it.

Rae stood up and walked over to him. He took her into his arms and hugged her tightly.

“So what is your plan?” Rae asked

“Melanie, Tonya and Cassidy are coming by to talk. I told Danielle I’d call when we were done.” He replied

“Great; the question of why she left Damien has been bothering me since she and Tonya came back.” Rea continued

“Good luck…” Sam said

“Thanks…” Rae replied

He grabbed her jacket and helped her put it on. She set the alarm and locked the doors; his car was parked right in front. He opened the door for her; she got in and used her powers to unlock his door. After getting in, he started the car and let it warm up before pulling into traffic.

Leaving the city, she couldn’t help, but think that Cassidy coming to stay with them was a trick. Would Damien use his own sister for his bidding? It was possible, but on the other hand Cassidy could have planned her escape and then contacted Tonya for help. She debated the idea in her head until the car pulled into the detached garage.

She and Sebastian got out and started walking. As the cottage came into view, Tonya, Cassidy and Melanie were standing outside.

“Right on time…” Melanie commented

“It’s nice to see you too Mel.” Rae replied

Sebastian unlocked the door and the ladies walked inside. Tonya helped Cassidy out of her dark purple wool pea coat. Underneath she wore a pair of blue jeans and long sleeved gray thermal shirt. Rae handed Sebastian her coat and he brought it upstairs. She gestured for Cassidy to sit down. Tonya and Melanie remained standing.

“Hi Cassidy how are you feeling?” Rae asked

“Hello Rae; I’m much better thank you.” Cassidy replied in a thick British accent

“I want you to know you’re very brave for wanting to tell us what happened.”

“Thank you.”

She looked at Tonya, she smiled and Cassidy took a deep breath.

I used to think my brother was a hero. Rescuing kids from broken homes or finding runaways and giving them a place to stay. He had enlisted in the navy, when he turned eighteen. Before he left, he promised he’d come back for me; take me away from our horrid home, start fresh.

Our father was abusive and alcohol fueled his temper more. Mother was terrified of him, barely spoke a word. And two years later, Damien came back and visited me at night, after our parents went to bed.”

The window creaked as it opened slowly; she sat up in bed to see her brother climbing in. Leaping out of bed she ran into his arms. His hands felt cold, piercing through her long sleeved blue night shirt. She looked up at him, his hair was a little longer and he looked paler. Shaking it off, he had come back like he promised her.

“Did you pack?” He asked

“My suitcase is underneath my bed.” She replied

She ran over to her wooden truck that sat at the end of her bed. Lifting the lock and lid, she took out a pair of bell bottom jeans, black flats, and short sleeved red t-shirt. She changed; Damien bent down and took her green suitcase with silver handle out from underneath her bed.

“I’m ready.” She said

“C’mon…” He said

She turned and he had disappeared. Walking towards the window, poking her head out, he had placed a later for her to climb down. The minute her feet touched the lawn, he took her by the hand and they started walking. She felt free, ready to start over. When they got to the end of the street, Tonya appeared standing beside Damien.

“Who is this?” She asked

“This is Tonya. Tonya this is my little sister Cassidy.” Damien replied

Tonya held out her hand, “It’s nice to meet you Cassidy.”

Cassidy shook it and smiled, “You too Tonya.”

Damien hailed a cab and they got in, leaving for the airport.

We were moving on. No one was going to hurt me ever again. Or so I thought at the time. When we arrived in the United States Tonya discovered Melanie and her boyfriend Chris were on the same flight. Damien welcomed them and we took a bus into the city. We stayed in a homeless shelter our first night, Damien said he needed to go to the bank and get money converted.

A month later we were living in a Brownstone in Manhattan. Everyone got their own room. One night I woke up to Damien standing over me, he looked different. He had changed, since we moved in; slept all day and only went out at night.”

“I have a surprise for you.” He said

“Can’t it wait until morning?” She replied letting out a big yawn

“No. I know you wanted to have powers just like Tonya and Melanie.”

She sat up as he sat down on her bed. He reached into his coat pocket and handed her a vile of blood.

“If you drink this you’ll have their powers.” He paused; “But you have to drink a lot of it.”

Taking the cork stopper out, she drank it. Her eyes rolled into the back of her head, feeling the blood running throughout her body. Damien watched as her bed rose into the air and then landed on the floor.

“Impressive.” He commented

“Damien what the bloody hell are you doing?” A voice hissed

They looked to see Tonya standing in the doorway; she held a piece of gauze over her neck. Cassidy’s eyes widened, going back and forth from her brother to Tonya. She gasped, the door shut in Tonya’s face and Damien hugged her tightly.

“I need to go, but I’ll see you tomorrow night.”

She watched him leave and then Tonya ran in.

“What has he done?” She asked

“Gave me your powers… you can’t be jealous or could you? Sorry you and Melanie aren’t special anymore.” Cassidy replied

“It won’t last long. No matter how much you drink.”

She walked out of the room and Cassidy fell back asleep.

He kept bringing me more. But Tonya was right; having her powers didn’t last long. One night I followed him into the basement. He had it finished. Tan carpet running throughout, white walls, and dark wooden furniture. He was sitting on a bed, covered with off-white sheets and matching comforter. He was hugging Tonya, tears streaming down her eyes.”

“I’m sorry Tonya. This is the last time…” He whispered

“No Damien… no more…” She replied

Using her powers she pushed him off the bed and pinned him against the wall. She got up and slowly walked up to him.

“You’re not taking anything from me. I’m done being a bloody pin cushion. Why were you giving my blood to Cassidy?”

“That love I’ll never tell…”

“He wanted or still wants to overthrow our family.”

Tonya turned to see Melanie standing on the staircase. She blurred and appeared standing next to her sister.

“He thought Cassidy was young enough. Gradually feeding her our blood, trained her, and then turn her. Start packing Tonya we’re leaving.”

Her suitcase slid out from beneath her dresser and onto her bed. Clothes came out of the drawers, folding neatly, piling one on top of the other. Her long brown leather coat flew into her hand, she put it on. They punched Damien; he fell to the floor as they walked upstairs.

I had been hiding underneath the stairs. It hurt to know my brother was hurting the people he saved.”

“What happened to you?” She asked

“Cassidy? How long have you been down here?” Damien replied

“Long enough… what happened to you?”

“What are you talking about?”

“You’ve changed; paler skin, you sleep all day and I only been seeing you at night. And you’re healing.”

A black eye formed around his left eye, but had returned back to normal. She sat on the steps; he stood up and straightened his clothes.

“I’m a vampire Cassidy… immortal… eighteen forever.” He paused; “A woman named Margot spared killing me for her meal and made me her fledging. She taught me everything, including the drinking of gifted blood.”

“You’re a monster…”

“Don’t be upset; Melanie will be sixteen forever and you could too. Unless you want to stay twelve years old forever?”

“No! Get away from me! You monster!”

I didn’t speak to him for months. Tonya came back for a month, but after she left I knew that I couldn’t stay with the family anymore. I got Tonya’s number from Damien’s phone and called her. And the rest you already know.

“So Damien was after yours and Melanie’s blood to take overthrow your family?” Rae asked

“He did his research. Found out about the coven and our powers. ” Tonya paused

“Tonya told me their powers, had driven their ancestors in madness. I was glad when the last bit of blood ran its course.” Cassidy paused; “What’s going to happen to me now?”

Rae sighed in relief, all the other scenarios she had thought of floated away. Tonya and Melanie trusted her; she figured that eventually she could too.

“You can live with us if you want. We’ll enroll you at the local school. You can start over.” Tonya replied

“I’d like that.”

Cassidy smiled and let out a yawn. Melanie blurred, getting her coat, she put it on.

“It’s time for bed love. I’ll be right back.” Melanie whispered

She and Cassidy left, Sebastian had gotten off the phone. Melanie came back along with Danielle and Nicholas.

“Grandmother, Grandfather what are you doing here?” Tonya asked

“Sebastian asked us to come. Now what news do you have?” Nicholas replied

Rae stood up and walked over to Sebastian. It became quiet until Rae cleared her throat.

“Thank you all for coming. Rae and I wanted everyone to be here to announce we’re getting married.” Sebastian said

“Congratulations!” Danielle said

Melanie and Tonya walked over to the couple. They hugged each other tightly.

“Looks like you’re stuck with us for life.” Melanie whispered to Rae

She laughed and Melanie smiled.

“Have you set a date?” Tonya asked

“October of next year; we’ll narrow down a date.” Rae replied

“Congratulations again dear.” Danielle chimed in

“Thank you.” Sebastian replied

Everyone got lost in conversation, Rae began to feel that weird feeling she had felt earlier that day. She sat down and began messaging her forehead.

“Rae are you feeling alright?” Melanie asked

“I’m feeling a little dizzy.” Rae replied

Danielle walked up to Rae and offered her hand.

“Everyone will you excuse us please?” Danielle paused; “Sebastian, let’s bring Rae upstairs.”

They left, slowly Sebastian led Danielle upstairs. Rae leaned against her, the feeling was getting worse. As they walked into the bedroom, Danielle helped Rae sit down on the bed. She then took off her shoes and pillows propped up as Rae brought her feet up and leaned back against her pillows.

“What’s going on?” Rae asked

“I didn’t want to say anything with everyone here.” Danielle replied

“Well it’s just us now…” Sebastian interrupted

“Rae you’re pregnant.” Danielle paused; “I called Faith to come over to make sure.”

Rae and Sebastian’s eyes met and widened in shock.

“Is it even possible?” Sebastian asked

“I didn’t think it was. But let’s wait for Faith to confirm.” Danielle replied

Faith arrived with a portable ultrasound machine and an old fashioned brown leather ‘Doctor’s’ bag. Danielle stepped out of the room and waited. Twenty minutes later, Faith opened the door and she walked inside. Rae had changed into a pair of black sweatpants and large gray t-shirt.

XIX

“Danielle you were right. Rae, you’re pregnant. But the child is growing at fast rate.” Faith paused; “We’re going to have to monitor you closely Rae. Vampire’s blood is powerful and I’m not how this pregnancy will affect your body. This is the first half-breed conceived naturally. ”

“Half breed?” Rae asked

“Half mortal and half vampire dear; Charlotte was the first. Cat suffered complications during labor and I made her, after Charlotte was born. The umbilical cord hadn’t been cut, so when Cat drank my blood, Charlotte also drank it.” Danielle explained

“Couldn’t I be made after the baby is born?” Rae asked

“Are you sure Rae? There is a chance you could survive this as a mortal.” Sebastian asked

Rae smiled, “I think I’ve spent enough time as a mortal. It’s time to start a new life and spend eternity with you.”

“Oh young love; it’s so romantic….” Danielle paused “But in all seriousness, it would have to be done after the baby is born.”

“And on that note, we’ll leave you two alone.” Faith giggled

She led Daniele out, downstairs and out the front door. Sebastian heard it lock and sat down next to Rae. He hugged her and then leaned back.

“You’re definitely brave.” He said

“Thanks. No regrets…”

Word of the engagement spread to the media vultures. Major newspapers, magazines, and blogs had a special feature articles, the public was eating up every word. She stood before the mirror in his bedroom, wearing a navy blue capped sleeved “teacup” dress. Sam was behind her, ‘French’ braiding her hair.

“How are you feeling?” Sam asked

“I think the morning sickness finally ended. Sebastian already knows, but I’m going to take leave from the studio. “Rae paused; “This is the first half vampire, half human to be brought into the world. Vampire’s blood is speeding up the baby’s growth and I’m not even sure how this will affect my body.”

“You weren’t joking about no regrets. What are you going to do after the baby is born?”

“I’ve asked Sebastian to make me.”

She had finished tying a white hair tie into Rae’s hair and came up beside her.

“Are you sure?”

Rae nodded, “I love him.”

“Least I don’t have to hire a hitman.”

“I have one… Melanie…”

They laughed as Tonya appeared in the doorway. She wore a pair dark blue jeans and black with red sleeved top.

“You look beautiful Rae.” She said

“Thank you. I’m just happy that the dress still fits.” Rae giggled

“You’re not showing yet. Besides the media vultures will be too focused on the ring.” Melanie added
