Dark Poetry: Circus of Maniacs

Updated on June 25, 2013

The clowns begin the show
There's electricty in the air
5000 volts to be exact
Wired to an electric chair

Bozo takes a seat
It's time to spark the show
Pull the switch and let her R.I.P.
Look at Bozo go

The lion tamer is next
The crowd oohs and aahs
When the lion bites off his head
Everyone roars with applause

The knife thrower is a master
All his blades fly true
Too bad for his lovely assistant
Her lifeless body turns blue

Now let's see the dare devils
Look at how they fly
They defy death with every leap
But tonight death will not be denied

The crowd has been entertained
The ring master bows his head
But how will this show go on tomorrow
Now that all the entertainers are dead

I think we are all a bit mad. We love to see disaster. No one likes waiting in traffic because we hate being kept from our destination, but as soon as an accident happens we hit our breaks to see how bad it is.
