Daughters and Their Frogs

Piggy tails and chewing gum

play day on slippery slides

fairy tales and make believe

and magic pony rides

Mid day naps upon my lap

bouncing on my knees

Read me another story daddy

read me another please

Toys give way to boys

and dreams of the magic kiss

She thinks her frog a prince

I say they don't exist

New hair, new shoes, new dresses

and boys that need repair

in pants they can not keep

above their underwear

They rap upon my door

and greet me as the dude

they come to take my princess

out to get some food

Without the reaching of a hand

they greet me there instead

with a backward baseball cap

perched upon their head

Fairy tales and make believe

and princess pony rides

My hope of prince or doctor

forever put aside

Instead I get a silly frog

with an ass he wants to share

with every one in the world

except his underware!
