Nostalgia...Those Were The Days!

dancing in the rain...bare feet
dancing in the rain...bare feet

There are times when my heart goes wild,

trying to be free;

Free to do all things so wild,

only childhood could decree;

The only girl and three brothers,

we made a team of four;

I played with them and laughed with them

but always wanted one more;

Dancing in the rain... bare feet,

and catching not the cold!

playing in the scorching heat

till Mommy came and scold;

life was fun...as fun could be!
life was fun...as fun could be!
paddling down that lonely road...
paddling down that lonely road...
our paper boats...
our paper boats...

Walking up that lonely road

that took us up the hill;

After paddling down our little bikes

we had to guzzle and swill;

Crawling by on tippy toes

on pebbles in the stream;

Slithering for our paper boats,

slipping without a scream;

Ding Dong Ditch with our aunt next door

hiding behind the bush;

Whenever got caught...they ran away,

giving me a push;

...and four of us got split!
...and four of us got split!

It was life at its best,

but we never knew of it;

Within no time, it was all gone

and the four of us got split;

When I look back at those merry times

my heart goes wild again;

Craving to be that child once more,

but here its me...mundane!

      Sounds like you had an awesome time growing up. I think most people today have been robbed of such experiences. Lovely poem and use of words to describe a time which obviously was very dear to you.

      What a beautiful poem. Appropriate images make it easier to picture it in my mind. The flow the description is all so wonderful.

      Thanks a lot Saima...I wish I can give my children this type of childhood...where they can play outside, not online... meet their friends and family face to face...not on facebook... I really feel so bad that they are missing so much..missing the real fun of being a child...

      Thanks again for liking it.

      We always have our memories to look upon fondly. Sometimes I wish life would always stay as simple and carefree as the life of a child. Sometimes it is only through the eyes of a child that you realize how beautiful and uncomplicated life really is.
