Destined to winter

Updated on March 8, 2013

There are many who have wished it

To walk life by my side

But the years with me

They take there toll

What they once felt slowly dies

All my charms, my looks and smile

No longer fill their hearts

Our dreams and hopes cannot stop them

Yearning for a new start

Now I'm in my autumn years

Like leaves my charms they fall

The many who have once desired

Don't glance or wish at all

My spring my summer days now passed

The autumns on it's way

Destined to winter all alone

Until my dying day

The future once would never come

Now full of yesterdays

I played to much in the sun

I should of made some hay

Great poem, thanks for sharing, Colin. Thank goodness character (unlike physical appearance) gets polished and more robust with time. Nice moment of reflection, Simba.

      Thank you Colin !!

Your comments really make every word I write worthwhile, and I feel honoured that you take the time to read my writing. whether or not it deserves such praise I don't know but you really give me so much encouragement to pick up my pen.

Thank you so much and I truly appreciate any input from that you so generously give.

Hi Faith, thanks for dropping in and reading it kinda is a pretty inward piece I have to admit, but not really how I'm feeling

I can relate to this Jon. Everything will work out in due time. Love will come again when you least expect it. You have Savannah now. That's a dream come true right there. Only good things to come from now on!

Very well put as to one's youthful look gradually disappearing as we age, but one does not have to be alone. However, I do understand what you are saying here in this honest look inward of oneself poem.

      Voted up +++ and sharing

      God bless, Faith Reaper
