Destiny beckons
Born in a manger
the world's Saviour, naked and bare
wrapped in swaddling bands
left for men to smile and stare
first came the oxen and then the ass
next, the man Joseph, standing fast
Mary cradled her infant
And the Shepherds did chant
Along came the Magi
With their gifts preceding Herod's cry
All in all - a normal enough birth
with the trappings of poverty - welcome to earth!
So, sometimes, do we arrive this planet
bawling from our Mothers' wombs like a nine-month comet
Some to a silver spoon, some to gold
and some to a wooden spoon, withered and old
But amongst the lot, irrespective of origin
Champions are born, keeping their generation a-waiting
It doesn't matter the background you come from
What matters is your desire to succeed and break from the norm.
Jesus fulfilled His destiny and so can you
He paved the way for your success and subsequent breakthrough
Being a champion is a matter of attitude
Not wealth, status and enduring solitude
Just aim for the moon - someone once said in my ears
For even if you miss, you'll still land among the stars!!
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
