Diamonds of the Sky
diamonds of the sky
silently fluttering by
filling the big grey sky
sparkling under the bright street light
on this cold wintry night
bitter and full of bite
you cover the trees
twinkling in the breeze
touching all the leaves
then you softly landed
upon my outstretched hand and
rested on my fingers, planted
capturing a newly discovered treasure
giving me such pleasure
and a happiness I was unable to measure
then you slowly melt
how special I felt
for this oppurtunity I was dealt
then another takes your place
landing delicately on my face
leaving a small wet trace
as you once more melted away
I felt a feeling of dismay
wishing you could stay
then more and more fell from up high
showering down in the moonlit sky
like a confetti of jewels in an endless supply
you fell all around my feet
covering my every step on this concrete street
and hiding them becoming indiscreet
if I stood still would you cover me too
sticking to my skin like an icy tattoo
turning me into a human igloo
or would you just melt and disappear
and wait for another to reappear
only to have the same fate as you did here
