Do Not Enter - A Poem
At one time you crushed the innocent, trusting love I gave you
Every betrayal brought a tear, every insincere apology a false glimmer of hope
Since you left I haven't been able to cry
Years of healing haven't changed this fact
The only exception being death and birth
And yes, I did have children, with a husband who made us a home, a family, and
who knows how to keep a promise and doesn't run away
But you are not ashamed - the lies and betrayal were my fault. I wasn't enough for you in every way
But alas I can only be me. I'm as pretty as I'll ever be - no more, as smart as I am this moment - no more
Since I clearly don't meet your standards, be gone and do not enter
There's no forgiveness, no friendship, this time you're unworthy and not enough for me
There's no room for you - do not enter!
