Do Not Give Up the Fight

Updated on April 9, 2013

I am my own worst critic

Harsh and unpleasant

I repeat the chiding of an inner voice

A voice that refuses to let go of past failures

Why do I chose to listen?

When those maddening echos

Fill my head and scream "You can't!"

Today is the day I say "I can!"

And pray that the maddening voice

Will find silence...forever.

I feel close to what you have written. I feel exhausted a lot thanks to my never ending attitude towards to myself. I am never satisfied with all I do and How I manage things. I am my own critic freak.

Thank you for your very understandable expresion of something that everyone could relate to :-)

Thank you. I have found that it is important to keep reminding ourselves not to give up. I am glad you enjoyed the poem : )

I don't know. Billybuc has a great hub about those inner voices. Did you read that one?

That inner voice has been nagging at me quite a bit lately. Why do we seem to always listen it?

Just today, I wrote and revised a poem for my poetry group meeting. I was not delighted with it to say the least.(That inner voice) To my surprise, all eight of the participants thought it was great. Up!
