Do You Belong Up There ?
I Don't Think So
Please get down
As she walks across our counter for the one thousand and eight hundreth time
Our kitten finds new ways to torture us slowly
She continues to hop up on the kitchen table flicking a pen to the floor
After watching the water pour down in between the center of the table where both ends meet
A vase sits tossed on it's side with the flowers on the floor already
Peek a boo I see you
She continues to play with everything in her view
She makes every place she can climb or go behind her next new hiding spot
She constantly reminds us that she can be wide awake every hour of the day
As we roll a whiffle ball across the floor
To entertain her and tucker her out
She runs with half full speed catching it before it reaches it's destination
I will be back as she trots to us easily
It is amazing how many things she can get into in one night
She has learned to open closet doors
By scratching at them until they open
You can hear our words shouting
C H A R L E T T E !!!!
NO C H A R L E T T E NO !
At any given time during the night
We do not have to even be awake
With our eyes closed and our bodies lifeless
We sometimes yell simultaneously
My body tenses up without notice
I feel like a wet towel frozen in the snow
My body is now disfigured and it is next to impossible for me to go back to sleep
I sometimes instantly jump up like a snake in the attack mode
Ready to strike at any moment
How could I go from a peaceful sleep to this heart wrenching position
As my kitten playfully found her way into my wifes pajamas draw
Pulling out one top then a bottom as if she was going to get dressed
This can't be happening
She hides in the kitchen closet up behind the vacume cleaner
Then off to the house phone to play with the telephone cord knocking the phone to the floor with one swipe
Now she is behind the computer playing with all the wires
That was not enough fun she had to knock one of the speakers to the floor
Under our bed in search of a secret underground tunnel
So that she can instantly rise up in any room to start her next adventure
Trouble is not the word for it
I am surprised our house can take such a beating
She reaches up and claws the walls for what reason I don't know
She jumps on the side door screen and then hangs on for dear life
Was it a bug that she was after ?
She doesn't need a reason to do what she does
She is a kitten who jumps in mid air in a second
She claws our luggage and climbs the computer chair as if it was a jungle gym
What her plans are next I am not sure but she stops to eat
She has to refuel as she decides to charge the kitchen barrel
Earlier she was upside down in the office barrel struggling to get a piece of paper out
There is nothing she will not do
She is now staring at me straight into my eyes
As if she is unwillingly hypnotized
As she walks away she made it clear it is not me you hear
It is the wind that pulled the bathroom curtain down
It was also the wind that unraveled the toilet paper roll
The darn wind causes so much trouble
Where now she watches me fix the damage
One kitten
One house
A train wreck waiting to happen
