A Poem About Love and the Seasons :don't Leave Me in the Summer Time
Don't Leave Me In The Summer Time
Don't leave me in the summertime
When yellow roses bloom and shine
When birds soar high to claim the sky
The gods will weep if beauty dies
In Summer sun, our hearts attune,
Safe within our lover's cocoon
Don't leave me in this Summer bright
Bereft of hope, we'll douse the light
When Autumn sun deserts the sky
Torrential rain the tears we'll cry
When birds to south horizon flown
Solitude will make my heart home
Leave when the earth grows damp and cold
When death stalks every human soul
When dying leaves blanket the ground
Leave if you must, alone, unbound
Don't leave when cheerless Winter comes
For grey clouds will fill the vast chasm
And when the snow lay crisp and deep
Succumb I must to dreamless sleep
Remember when first breath of spring
Breathe life for blossoming to begin-
Beside the brook a kiss we took
To the kaah of a nesting rook
I beg you, stay till spring has sprung
When blackbirds and robins have sung
When the newborn lambs jump and leap
Never again will my heart weep.
