Well i would definately reconmend Dont Look Twice by Andrew Gross.

Brief description

Ty, the main character in the book works for the local police station and thinks that his work if just swell until his life if turned upside down in a drive-by shooting that leads to a case that is too big for one chap to handle.

Full of diversions, crime and people who cant physically get sent down by the cops. This novel can make you think about government from a totally different perspective and maybe question why todays politics are the way they are.
