Dr. Love - Leo Buscaglia: A Book Review
Book Review
There is no one, that comes to mind, who changed my life in such a dramatic way as "Dr. Love", Professor Leo Buscaglia. I was a very shy child. Brought up in a very unloving abusive home with a mother who was "classified" in many unhealthy categories. I did not know what real love was until I read LOVE, by Leo Buscaglia. This book changed me to be the loving, caring, and gentle woman I am today.
Love Dr.
Professor Leo Buscaglia taught a "Love Class", Love 1A, at Southern California University in the 1970's. LOVE, his first book, is an emotional response that was brought on by the suicide of one of his students. He was a Professor in the Department of Special Education at the University, in the 1980's. Leo Buscaglia gave heartfelt lectures on PBS (The Public Broadcasting Station) TV, about Self-Help Topics. He wrote several Self-Help books during his lifetime.
"Love is life. And if you miss love, you miss life."
— Leo BuscagliaYou Would Be Missed
First, you need to:
- Love yourself

"Without you, the rest of us will be missing out on the wonderful things you can share."-Leo Buscaglia

"This book is about love. What it is and what it isn't. It is about you--and about everybody who has ever reached out to touch the heart of another. Among many other lessons of the heart, Leo Buscaglia reminds us: Love is open arms. If you close your arms about love you will find that you are left holding only yourself."

Take The Time
"The majority of us lead quiet, unheralded lives as we pass through this world. There will most likely be no ticker-tape parades for us, no monuments created in our honor. But that does not lessen our possible impact, for there are scores of people waiting for someone just like us to come along; people who will appreciate our compassion, our unique talents. Someone who will live a happier life merely because we took the time to share what we had to give." Leo Buscaglia
What This Book Taught Me
While many people have read books that change the way they think, for me, this book totally transformed my life. I was so painfully shy and introverted that I literally lived my life looking down at my feet. The environment in which I lived was such torment, abuse, and failure that I became an observer and not a participator in my life. I was told that I was a mistake, that I was unloved, and that nobody would ever love me. Leo Buscaglia taught me the truth. He taught me to love, that I was loved, that I was important, and that God doesn't make mistakes.
