Dream Palace

Making It All Work

Taking a vision I had some forty years ago

Bringing it to life

There stands a building at the corner of the street

It use to be an old company called Prime Tannery

Now its a place where families can come and go to have a little fun

Once you walk in the door you see board games piled high to the ceiling

Each one ready to be played over and over again

There is one main open room where people of all ages play

Then there are seperate smaller rooms off to the side where families might play

In the back there are two rooms one for pool and one with two bowling alleys

They are for winners only

Prizes are drawn every half hour and the latest winner is posted in big gigantic letters for all to see

The walls are covered with books on every subject imaginable and go from end to end

This is a wonderful place to make new friends and exchange ideas for laughs

Drawings are picked from all the names of the people when they walk through the door

You can sit in any comfty seat and read a book or just watch others have fun

There is a record station where old records are playing constantly

You can listen to any number of speakers to hear whats being played

All around there are old objects and newspapers of years ago

A diferent time and a different place

People can come in to play any hour of the day

The place is a library open twenty four hours

So if it is early morning or late night come in for a quick bite at the snack bar

A wide variety of healthy choices

Each room is decorated for different holidays of the year

Flags and memorabila cover one wall

A little bit of history and a lot of excitement rolled into one

Hope to see you soon

I will be waiting for you

Gypsy Rose Lee I am sure you enjoyed it very much. What games did they play?In Vermont they have a Cracker Barrel that you can play cribbage and I think another peg game.My idea is like that times one hundred. An idea has to begin somewhere.I will start the ball rolling and maybe someone else will come and join in.Fun for all when we make it a team effort.I love input and ideas it only makes dreams so much better.Thanx so much for sharing and please come back and bring your new ideas and thoughts to make it real in our minds then reality has to follow.Have a great night.

Just wonderful. Sounds like my kind of place. Delightful idea. Actually when I lived in the states there was a restaurant out on Long Island in New York and there you could have snacks and play games at your table.

shiningirisheyes When I was growing up the old biddy ladies worked the library and didn't think any children shoud be without parents. They gave you a look to get a book and go home.I therefore collected my own collection of books that I can call my B.I.G. library.Books I gift and now I can share with anyone anywhere.I also loved playing board games but now kids love computer games instead.I still think it's nice to pull out and play booby trap or operation and the list goes on.I am happy you find my hubs enjoyable because all I want to do is help in any direction I can.I hope I can continue to make you find fun in every day.Thanx so much for reading my thoughts as they come.Kj force You are ging to be surprised we have an early bird special.Life gets better and better.Thanx again.See you there.

Dream - Awesome description of a free opportunity so many take for granted or ignor. My childhood summers consisted of one day a week spent at the library and the books I carried home with me were amazing treasures waiting to be discovered.

I have to tell you how much inspiration I have acquired with your writings. Some time ago I sent a "nod" to your writings in one of my hubs "My experience with the other side". It was inspired by a challenge you proposed asking us to write a hub based on our experiences with death.

While writing it, I was able to acquire a much-needed calm and I thank you for that. I will continue to be an ardent follower, enjoying the creativity you mind produces.

kj force I held the dream long enough.I decided to let it spark. There is an old building down the street that now is left empty and it was a tannery.I could think of so many good uses for it.It sits empty and lonely. So I decided to let my dream fly.Even if it is not real it can be come to life on paper. There would be a five dollar fee and if you bring in a friend there free. You can stay all day or stay awhile and come back anytime during the day.Your hand gets stamped with a smile.A different color smile for each day.If you don't wash the smile off you can come in for half price.Every day there is different specials that are surprises when you are there.Free giveaways. They can be gas cards and food cards priced at five to ten dollars. There are tiny corner shops of people who have made their wonn arts and crafts and they are being sold.Theypay very cheap rent and for the spots and theat helps pay for the cost of the building with the peole that constantly come. There is a suggestion box and if any suggestions are used you get free memebership for a month anfor you and all your frineds.only pay one dollar.I appreciate ideas ans thoughts. There is one balck and white small t.v. but the rest is old records and songs to bring in a mood of peace and creativity.
