Inspirational Poetry: Emerging From the Dark

Updated on June 7, 2013

The light stood before me,

I had only to take the last few steps in the dark.

My journey would finally be complete.

And the past that haunted me for all these years

Would be left behind.

At some point those tortured memories,

Had become blankets of comfort

And the thought of losing them

Made me hesitate to take another step,

But I spent enough time dwelling,

And not letting go.

It was time for me to summon up my courage

Cast away my shackles

And

One

Two

Three

I emerged from the dark.

      From untruth to truth

      From darkness to light

      From death to immortality

Excellent poem. I can really relate to this one, only wish I could say I was emerging from the darkness but I feel so lost in it still. This poem sounds much like a future hope of mine or a futile dream, but none the less a great poem indeed. Keep up the good work! Voted up!

Time will heal all wounds, but some wounds run so deep that they can injure your soul. Emerging from the darkness is simple acknowledging that bad things can happen, and still having the courage to face life and allow goodness into your heart. We dwell on misery because we feel it can't get any worse if we are already at our lowest point.
