Endless Loop: A Poem

Updated on April 16, 2012

Ugh. Bored. So bored.

I’m not happy

Not sad

Just kind of here

Bored. So bored. A tad.

Being bored makes me sleepy.

Sleepy. So sleepy

Ready for bed

Middle of the day

Soft pillow for my head.

Now I’m hungry.

Famished at least

I need to eat

Pizza or steak?

Party of one. Take a seat.

Sad. So sad.

Ate all that was before me

Every last bite

Stomach so full

Pants so tight.

Bored again. So bored.

Not hungry

Sleepy. Eyelids droop

Not sad

In an endless loop.

Boy, I sure hope these Hubs are from memories and not the present. Good writing always, but sad things to say. That "loop" is a trap that must be cast off by actions of movement and pushing through the walls.

You are such an evocative writer. The way you write about sadness and pain encompasses the reader. I hope the loop is not actually in your life right now. Not sure if you have visited the Finding Fiji - link on my profile....

Lisa, your poetry is always suprising you could make a poem out of something so simple as a loop. Wonderful.

Voted up. Hate that feeling when I stand in the middle of the room and I don't want to do anything, I don't know what to do and I'll even be ready to watch the grass grow. lol

Great description of depression, though sometimes when really depressed there is no inclination to eat. That's the point at which someone will be heard to say "Get a life" when in reality the goal is to "Get an eternal life" and something is holding you back from advancing. Well written and descriptive. Up, Awesome.

I was intrigued by the title and, of course, as I read I understood why. When I first saw the word bored..I thought "don't know that word" 'cause I am never bored. As I continued to read I wondered "is this person trying to find a place of rest, is this lazy, or is this person depressed"?.

The was a wonderful thought-provoking poem. I liked it so much I read it a second, then a third time.

Voted up, interesting, beautiful and awesome.

xstatic, well, it was actually describing yesterday, but I didn't eat pizza and steak! I was just bored and felt like I didn't have a creative bone in my body! I feel much better today!

Gypsy, you got it! That's what was happening to me yesterday and I hate that feeling! Today I'm busy with some cleaning and later I'm going to make some paper beads, so I'm good today! Bases covered!

Thanks so much for the comment!

Again, Eclectic - i am howling! You have such a way with words. I get that this is probably not meant to be funny, primarily - but - i don't think you can help it when the poem starts with 'UGH'...love it!
