Enjoying Work
A New Beginning Day Two
This day couldn't come soon enough
For the next two weeks I go on training
I shadow someone and follow their every move
They have given me a manual with company guide lines and rules
I can bring it home to study and learn
I watch as the people around me are busy at work
Trying to take it all in
I have a few questions and fire them off
My trainer answers each one with no hesitation
The person has been doing their job for a number of years
It is clearly their profession
I don't know how long I will stay here
It is funny to see behind the scenes of any operation
To see them do a good job and make their customers happy
The feeling of satisfaction
I watched as people did their assigned jobs
Seeing different nationalities and cultures working together like a team
Speaking only English I felt at a disadvantage
Listening to a foreign language
Watching their mannerisms
Trying to pick up on what their talking about
Soon I was called to do a different job that I wasn't familiar with
I watched and tried it looked so easy
I found out instantly how hard it really is
Having deep respect for my trainer who is taking his time and showing me once again
This time in a different way
I am starting to catch on
It is easy to beat yourself up
When you don't do something right
The mood is less festive and more serious
Down to business
Reminded by a manager
We have to do things right
Mixed feelings and emotions
As business picks up
Tensions rising
As another employee is reprimanded
For not doing the job he was asked to do
An equal mix of men and women
Some students in college and others their second job
Two older people in their early sixties busy working
I wonder how long they will keep working before retirement
The day went well
I am slowly seeing changes
Some good some bad
I am happy to call it a day
My brain is ready to explode
As I leave I say goodbye to everyone
A good feeling that I earned my pay today
