Erase it all Away

Updated on November 14, 2012

(For you chief)

I'd give away a lifetime
to erase the memories of you
Take away every tear and smile
all the heartache and laughs too.

Wipe out every song you ever mouthed my way
Any promise that left your lips
Give me back my sanity
Take it all and let me forget

I could fill the empty places in my soul
With courage, drive and hate
If my grip would loosen i could let go
before it's far too late.

I'd be better off without you
ruining my every day
Would have time for someone better
than you in every way.

Life is stuck on repeat
and I'm left watching reruns from a stoop
The play-by-play of our downfall
haunts me on a loop.

I wish every 'i love you'
could simply disappear
I wish your smell, your touch, your voice
didn't feel so very near.

Could it all dissipate like you did
from my life now full of misery
Every bit of you must be swept off
to ease the wrenching agony.

If i could go way back
to the day i couldn't let you just walk by
I'd shatter that very moment
and convince myself not to try.

I would breathe in the fresh air
just take in the day,
And in just one breath you'd be gone
every bit blown far away.

Your poems always bring me back! Same person and same time. Crazy how words can bring back such a shitty time lol. Couldn't be more true. Keep writing lady :)

Your poem was very touching and it hit home on too many things in my own life. I really enjoyed reading it. Thanks for putting into words things I wouldn't say b/c I didn't want to believe in the truth. Here it is 14 years later, and sometimes I still feel the same. Thumbs up definitely.
