Eye Know The Answer

Updated on May 17, 2011

One More Day One More Lesson

When we get older we gain experience

Through experience we gain knowledge

There are times when we have to understand and accept life as it is

So we can move forward

Here is one of those times

My wife waking up and one of her eyes are itchy

It just doesn't feel right

It looks know different

Just don't rub it is my advice

Maybe you scratched in your sleep last night ?

No I don't think so

I don't remember having any problems with my eye yesterday

So as the day goes on I forget all about her eye

So she reminds me again it feels odd

I look again and this time it looks a little red

So I say don't rub it you are just going to irritate it and maybe scratch you eye

Perfect advice I thought I could give

I heard if you put warm compresses on it it will feel better

So the day goes on like normal nothing else said or done

All forgotten or not really

Honey look at your eye it looks puffy and a little more red now

I told you

It wasn't there before

Should I call the doctor ?

For what?

Lets wait and see

Later that day

The eye lid has a little white pimple on it

I told you it was something

Your right

So after seeking the advice of a good friend\ nurse

It is a pig stye

Just put tea bags on it and it will be fine

The tea bags will draw out the infection

It is a pain but in a few days it will go away

So when nothing you did seems out of the ordinary

When you are neither sick or sad

You have to go to work and use your eyes to see

Occasionally( I joke)

This day will soon be forgotten and you will be back to your normal self in no time soon

Now it feels better since it must of come to a head and popped on its own

Your body finds a way to heal itself with a little help

I know this isn't the most favorite of subject to think about

But it is life and it happens

So lets peice together the odds and ends

Lets see through the eye of the needle

What life is trying to teach us here

We take these trying times and find a way to make them better

If we find a way to poke a little fun

An eye infection that could be so much worse

This is definitely an eye opener

It makes me think of how lucky we are every day

When our eyes just do their thing

Never giving them a thought

Seeing for us and making life so easy

When so many things can happen to them and throw off your day

That can put a little cramp in your syle

Well lets put a lid on this and get on with a great day

I will have to be healthy for two of us and find a way to keep our spirits up

You will get better and I just want to let you know

You are never far from my thoughts and I can't wait to look into your beautiful brown eyes and see just brown looking back at me

I can't imagine a life of a fighter

Getting socked in the eyes more often than most

I think my views on life would be far different

Cloudy at best and always on guard

Even on a good day I think I would be in a fog

On a bad day I would feel my head pounding and my eyes closed shut

Irritated and aggrivated always

A fighters life is not the life for me

So as I go to work and my wife squints her way

Tomorrow will be another day

Hopefully much different than today

Dim Flaxenwick I told my wife her hub gets more comments than all my other hubs.I think it has a womans touch. She loves the attention and now I have to pamper her even more than before because she is getting better. It might just be a new method never thought of.Maybe all the extra hugs and kisses is the best medicine.I am thrilled you loved it.It is really a touchy subject. This is one of those things that I hope is a once in a lifetime thing.Have you ever got one?Not me. Hopefully never.I hope you have wonderful health not just today but every day.Thanx so much.

You managed to write abou something most of us wouldn´t dream of , yet still make it so interesting, even funny , but most of all warm. At least that´s what l felt coming through., the warmth of the love you have for your wife.

Eiddwen She keeps putting a warm wet tea bag on her eye and it is taking time but it is almost better. Some times when you don't have an answer it is so much better sharing your troubles with friends. Then even if the result is the same you feel so much better.Thank you for all your support. Here's to a better day and better health.

Honestly the VA is slow. They gave him some eye drops for his eye that stung horribly. He had to use them every couple of days while he waited for his appoinment, which they would send him a letter in the mail. By the time they got around to setting the appointment, the sty had gone away by itself. They were going to lance it though! Hopefully that isn't what has to happen. I can't even imagine it!

Wearing sunglasses if she is outside or glasses inside will definitely help so her eyes are not trying to dilate adjusting for the light and also to keep debris out Believe me when we blink we are removing thousands of tiny particles that irritate the eye I would also have her rinse her eye out with sterile saline solution or some non irritating eye drops at least 3 or 4 times a day. I have a big bottle because I also do a lot of wood work and sometimes don't wear glasses, (I know it's stupid but dodo happens) Good Luck let us know how she does If it wasn't so close to the eye I would recommend Schrieners Herbal Solution but if it got in her eye that would not be pretty.

Wow what a great reminder of what I need to be grateful and say thanks for today. I can see, hear feel, and smell. My eyes get irritated a lot due to the dirt from brushing horses exercising them etc. I have used the warm tea bags on several occasions and they worked well. Thanks for an awesome up and useful hub.

Barbergirl28 No you made the story useful and gave it purpose.I appreciate that so much. What did the VA doctors reccomend ?It has been three days and so far one stye has popped and another one came after that one and now this one has also popped. They have to pop by themselves or you can infect the other eye.Now even the redness has gone down.We will see what tomorrow will bring.Good health what a wonderful thing.Thanx.Wow 4 months waiting that is such a long time.I am glad he is better now.

Ok - so I know this wasn't the purpose of the story, but it reminded me about when my husband got one back in December. It got so bad that he finally ended up going to the doctor - a VA doctor. It was seriously infected. I wish this would have been written sooner - I would have found about the tea bag trick. After almost 4 months with this sty, it has finally gone away. So, did the homemade recipe work?
