Fight to be Free

Updated on March 18, 2011
But I keep getting blocked; there are always rocks in my way.
But I keep getting blocked; there are always rocks in my way. | Source

I cleared my head

And let my body be

I screamed to the world

What do you expect out of me?

*

You've handed me lemons

And I've tried to make lemonade

But yet I keep getting blocked

And my goals are starting to fade

*

I'm lost in the darkness

I don't know which way to turn

I've done what has been asked

Can't you see I am trying to learn

*

I want things to turn around

But there are always rocks in my way

I no longer want to be here

But you keep asking me to stay

*

Giving up seems like defeat

Continuing is so difficult

But I can't give anyone else the blame

When really it is all my fault

*

Which way do you go Taking the wrong way You end up with a tag on your toe...
Which way do you go Taking the wrong way You end up with a tag on your toe... | Source

Actions have consequences

What you do sets a path

The results are predictable

You do the math

*

An action for an action

A head for a head

If you choose the wrong way

It won't be long before your dead

*

When given the choice

Which way do you go

Taking the wrong way

You end up with a tag on your toe

*

Choose correctly

And you will see

I won't be around

Because you left without me

*

I seem to be stuck

In this situation non grada

When I am desperately in need

I always get nada

*

screaming at the world to let me be
screaming at the world to let me be | Source

I seek a new way

I'm trying to get out

I know I sound desperate

I really don't mean to pout

*

I want you to lead me

Please show me the way

I want out of the darkness

I want you to stay

*

I need that knight in shining armor

I want someone to rescue me

I am stuck in the darkness

Yet I just want to be set free

*

So here I sit, clearing my head

Screaming at the world to let me be

A fight to be dead

Or a fight to be free

I used to write poetry all of the time, but kind of stopped for awhile. No reason really, except one day I stopped. I still enjoy it every once in awhile, but when I write it... it pretty much writes itself.

      Glad you enjoyed it!

Thank you... I actually have a full book of poetry. Unfortunately, I don't know where it got buried underneath my millions of notebooks :) I used to write a poem a day before I went to bed. Some were good... some where not. I am starting to get back into it a little.

barbergirl, I felt your pain and frustration in each line...it kind of built as it went. I would like to encourage you to write daily again...being able to pen poetry that "write's itself" is a true gift...it would be a shame to ignore that gift, a shame for you, the writer, and a shame for us, the readers! Good job with this!

Thank you tnderhrt - that means alot. I have definately been trying to get back into my poetry a little more. Depending on my mood it is either serious and depressing or funny and off the wall. I guess there really is no inbetween for me there! Thanks for the awesome comment. It really means alot!

@BukowskiBabe - Thank you so much. This is one of my favorites that I have written. Very haunting and very much a personal struggle at times.

@BukowskiBabe - I haven't taken the test by Briggs Myers. I would be interested to know what I am. I am going to have to check that out. I would love it if you could send me the link... I looked it up and there are lots and lots of pages with the tests.

I am an INFJ - I wasn't sure what that meant and then I looked at the description... I am an Idealist Counselor! You had me on the dot! Thanks for the information. That was fun!

:) Let me tell ya, life has handed me a lot of lemons. In fact, I once hit a boulder just like that in the photo and ended up rolling my car into the Shoshone River in Wyoming. There I was, with my newly converted James Bond motorboat.

@Lisa Mae DeMasi - Sometimes the struggle is difficult. We all have our lemons, it just depends on how we deal with them. I hope you don't turn cars into motorboats too often. Glad you enjoyed this!
