Fighting To Stay Asleep: A Poem

Updated on April 16, 2012
Patricia, my beautiful mother!
Patricia, my beautiful mother!

She spoke to me again today

Her love filled my dreams

A mother’s love

Even from above

Can seep through the tightly stitched seams.

She told me not to worry so much

Tasks would get done, things will get paid

Positive words urging me on

To live life before it is gone

The longer I’m awake, her image does fade.

She said she would send help our way

All I need is her love, but she explained more

Her words included money

I found it quite funny

I doubt The Bank of Heaven has an exit door.

She also reminded me of my desire to get fit

My dream showed me running for the state line

Legs moving, fire in my veins

No acknowledgment of my pains

Her support transcends even though she left me behind.

She filled my sleep with so much love

Upon waking, I found myself trying to hold on

To her sweet face

She’s lost in a haze

In my dreams she will be, but in life she is gone.

Another gem...I'm sure your Mom is smiling down and is very proud..A Mothers' job is NOT an easy one..I know I found that to be the hardest task I ever did, but muddled through, thanks to belief in " the Almighty"and lots of HUMOR...

kj force, my mother loved to laugh so there was always lots of humor around our house! I believe I miss that the most. I can't remember her laugh.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read my words! I really appreciate you!

Voted up and awesome. Your mom will always be by your side have no doubt. She was very beautiful and she reminds me of one of those old time actresses like Garbo and Hayworth.

A lovely poem. Someone once said that if we worry about something, think about how we will see it in ten years' time - voila! It's nothing to worry about at all. Loved it.
