Fire on the Horizon

"There is nothing worth having that can be obtained by nuclear war- nothing material or idealogical- no tradition that it can defend. It is utterly self defeating."

Fields afire

Burning on the horizon

Mushroom clouds

Atomic hypnotizing

Claiming it ordered of God

The President, Queen, and Pope

Pushed all the glowing buttons

Children’s eyes empty of hope

Ashes to ashes

Dust for dinner

Gray snow fallout

Over the saint and the sinner

Wearing mitres, crowns, and ties

They clung to their ignorant alliance

Denying love, peace, and nature

They killed my world with defiance

Tucked in their tunnels

They still plot, brother against brother

Murdering over the last seeds

They wrenched from their dead Mother

While a band of survivors

Walk a cooling Earth sighing

They give her the only chance

By saying goodbye, crying

So they bar the path

Of the destroyers who hate

By using bricks from Cathedrals

To block the devil’s gate

The ones with such great potential

But instead invented a Hell

Buried by their own creation

Forever in darkness to dwell.

Wayne, this is very deep indeed. Religion and the leaders behind each one should take a good look at what they are doing. I see very little anymore of the religions of old edifying the teachings of Christ.

Very potent food for thought, Wayne. Something we all need to hear.

Ooh, Wayne this is quite painful... I understand this and it's an ugly, sad reality. One I know that exists but attempt to bury in the back of my mind, as I truly believe it is out of my hands. If it could be put into words magnificently, then you're the man for the job... that is for sure.

Of course, I hit all kinds of buttons and I'm sharing too!

      I'll protect you Wayney! :D

      Hugs,

      Cat

Said to be very deep. Not at all, but extremely striking and with vivid images within and without. Valid approach. Not my way but still full of merits. God has His unique plans for you and I. Interestingly one of your better ones.

That is definitely a proper description. For those that are left, it will not be pleasant. Look what happened in Japan! They are still having serious problems as a result.

Manatita, I appreciate the visit. I guess we each have a right to our own opinion; whether viewed as deep, or not. It depends on your perspective. The reason I do personally think that it is deep is justified by your comment about "God's plan". I do not judge anyone for their beliefs, and I think that we have a right to them. (I myself believe in a higher power...but not necessarily after the religious doctrines of man). What scares me is the idea that the religious community is not as worried about the destruction of our planet as they should be, because they believe that it is the will of God.

You sound like an educated man; have you ever read, "Dante's Inferno?" (Please do not mistake me for being sarcastic; just good discussion.) If you have, can you explain to me; how could a god of love create such a place? To me, it is the biggest contradiction in existence.

Anyway; I respect your honest feedback and most of all, your friendship. Blessings on you!

Wayne, this is powerful stuff! The line "over the saint and the sinner" really hit home for me. We are all in this together and I can't believe that we sit back and allow such things to happen. There is no wo/man who walks this earth who is greater than the next and yet we give them the power of gods. We are all dancing around the golden calf, listening to lies. Will we wake up before the blast? I don't know anymore. You managed to paint a picture that is indeed the pit of hell and of our own creation.

      My Brother,

I see you on a platform of beauty. Please stay where you are. My apologies about the 'deep' bit. I simply meant for me it isn't. There is tremendous clarity in what you write and it most certainly has it's place.

Your poem is exceptionally beautiful. I initially hesitated to use this word simply because my way is to 'lift' (different style) and this I acquired from my teacher. Still, there are many different mansions in this world. I know this.

I am a servant and as such not a lover of the separation game. I see only oneness, and I try to express this. Rest assured that to me, you remain a promising child of Spirit. I am always trying to lift myself up, to go higher and deeper. Let us do this together. I cannot do so alone. Loving thoughts.

Hi Alexandra. Just now getting a chance to respond but I know we chatted a lot earlier.

I really do hope we get our heads out of our rear ends before it's too late. I'm glad you hopped over for a visit.

Damn you're good Sir Wayne and here I thought you were talkin' about my sex life on lake erie , lol.

Well I hope you're the last man standing on this feeble earth and when they pick you up in their spaceship, the Galaxy Coast Guard Patrol - they will say - here was a good man, a pure man , and a no bullshit man.

And the world's greatest poet too.

Don't look at me , I am a lake erie stud, hence the title, lol

1:59am and listening to the greatest late night album of all time - can you guess?

Dad- you pen so many fears and things that I think about daily. I worry so much about how I have brought a little, innocent human into this world who treads upon a rock every day that is holding enough potential to destroy everything in a second. I know you remember that essay I wrote about "The Day After". Nuclear warfare has always appalled me since then. I cannot believe we created things like this, as you said, us with so much potential and all we are doing is evil with it.

I'm sorry to whoever mentioned religion, I will just be blunt- there is no God's path, and its that attitude that keeps driving this world in the wrong direction. There wouldn't be as many wars or acts of terrorism if they weren't fighting over some aspect of religion. Religion has created nothing but a way to control people and instill fear in them to bend them to whatever will those in charge have. We need to stop sitting back and saying "It's god's plan". "God" is an extremely outdated view on the creation of the universe, and frankly, I wish it would go away. Hate me, pray for me for these comments. I don't care. Without religion, the world would be a peaceful place, or at least much, much more then it is today.

Funny thing; I almost added some kind of extra-terrestrial rescue to the piece but held off of it. I thank you, Sir stud of the Erie Lake! I always look forward to your visits.

Just read your, Galaxy Coast Guard Patrol. I think if they focused on intelligent life, my dogs and your cats would be rescued and me and you would be left here trying to figure out how to get the distillery back up and running!

Powerful poem. The invention of Hell, where they will spend eternity, where great cities used to be, now a vast, deep hole of darkness and fire. No war is not the answer, especially when it is nuclear.
