First Birthday Poems

Updated on July 30, 2012

Making the decision to have a child - it's momentous. It is to decide forever to have your heart go walking outside your body.
-Elizabeth Stone

It sometimes happens, even in the best of families, that a baby is born. This is not necessarily cause for alarm. The important thing is to keep your wits about you and borrow some money.
-Elinor Goulding Smith

Happy Birthday- A Whole Year Old

Happy Birthday Angel, I can’t believe a year has passed,

Although people always warn me that the time goes very fast

It only seems like yesterday when you were small and new,

It’s amazing just how much you’ve grown and the changes you’ve gone through.

You have eight little teeth now; you flash them when you smile,

There’s nothing you like better than sleeping for a while!

You are doing your best to walk but you’re nervous of a fall,

So when you see what you want, you get back down and crawl!

You are so inquisitive; you get that from me

Like a little Meerkat, head up trying to see!

You also really like your grub and also let me know

When it is dinner time or when I go too slow!

So on your first birthday, I hope you laugh all day!

Myself and Daddy love you more that words can say,

You really are an angel sent from up above,

Have a Happy Birthday, with lots and lots of love!

One Today!

My love, you are one today

And learning so very much,

There is nothing in this house,

That you don’t want to touch!

Your fingerprints are evident,

In every single place,

Along with the mischievous smile,

On your little face!

You have made our lives complete,

In each and every way

You alone brighten up

Every single day.

You are our special little boy,

We’ll watch your life unfold,

Have a Happy Birthday.

Now you are one year old!

A baby is born with a need to be loved - and never outgrows it.
