Flood- A Dark Poem
Title: Flood
Flood
Peel the skin at the nail
The pinch absolves the security
When you’re thinking there’s much more to me
I’m just a shadow of what I used to be
And the grin retells each memory
The stains of a memory that wont scrub away
Bless the air we breathe, to simply believe
That one of these scars could be for something
Cause every grain of broken skin
Relives a time or moments sin
And I’m losing my grip on reality
The candle flickers in the dark
And the chill creeps along my fingertips
Cause the cold inside; slowly subsides
And I’m the same fragment of a whole nothing
Just waiting for a reason to breathe
This spider web of broken links
This emotion on the brink
Cause tears can only fall so far
And you can only catch so many
Until they turn into a flood
